e8400 and debating the switch as nothing I currently play really begs for a SB....the damn price is so tempting though.

E8400 owner who's already upgraded to a 2500. Three years is my limit for hardware refreshes.

I'm running an old AMD Athlon K7 at 1.4 GHz. Needless to say, it is time for an upgrade!

Not yet, still on an i7 920. Will probably get whatever is after Sandy Bridge though... but may upgrade my vid card. Even though I just play CS Source and Starcraft 2 lol

This is a poll to see what CPU most people are currently running. I'm curious to see how many people are still happy using previous generation chips that Intel is trying to entice with their new Sandybridge processors. I have a feeling there is a HUGE base of early Core2 Duo/Quad folks out there just waiting for a GOOD reason to upgrade. Thanks in advance for participating!

There is no option for Intel Core (1), Q6600 FTW!

I currently have a Core2 Duo E6750 that I am dying to upgrade.

I already know that this pc is on borrowed time because the random crashes is getting more common.

Well I have been looking to upgrade the system since the i series processors were released but with getting an apartment, a car, and paying back student loans put it on hold.

E6600, exact same thing about random crashes/instability. It's time. Got 5 years out of this bad boy, absolutely zero complaints.

I have a core2quad 2.833ghz Q9550, i'm on the fence about upgrading. My problem is i know if i upgrade i have to get a new motherboard and ram also. So the upgrade path is steep vs performance.

I play lots of games, have a GTX 460 (fast a 470).. I play at 1900x1200 to, so not sure.

I might wait for motherboards with SATA6 controllers so i can get a new SSD in a few months and just do a complete system haul.

Even in this technological backwater that is Phenom II ownership there's nothing I can't play really well with everything cranked up to high. The 5850 is still powering through everything I throw at it too, over a year from buying it.

If I had the money I'd switch in a heartbeat, but then as enthusiasts wouldn't we all. I'm not expecting to come across anything I can't run with this at least half-way decent quad for some time.

I had already written off an SB upgrade some 6 months ago when I replaced my e8400 with an i5-760. Feel better after seeing the reviews that I'm not missing much.

Main machine is an E8500, two test machines running X2 2-2.1Ghz chips. Definitely want to do an overhaul on the main desktop, but I want to see a full product line from Bulldozer before I make any mobo/CPU purchases. Will probably pick up a Radeon 6970 next month though.

Have an E8400 and most likely will jump on the microcenter 2500K for 179.99. My E8400 honestly does well enough. But I am itching to upgrade again

I have a c2q and the current expense to upgrade (cpu/mb/mem), does not seem worth it.

Heck I actually have a 1156MB that I'm probably just going to sell.

Phenom x4 955, overclocked. Had it for a year now. Not upgrading anytime soon.

My current machine is pretty ancient. It's time for an upgrade, and SB is all that I need, and more.

my current cpu is x4 620 and I doubt I will be needing anything more until 2012 or even 2013 when I stop browsing web and start doing heavy 3D renderings on a daily basis. ;]

i7 920 at 4.2GHz here. SB looks to be a 10-15% performance increase per clock in most day to day things, and if I could get it up to 4.8-5GHz, then in reality it should act like my i7 920 as though it were running at 5.5-5.7GHz, and that to me is really tempting, but then I look at my system. I have a 5850 and no SSD. Upgrading to a 6950 (and unlocking to 6970), or getting an SSD would much more beneficial to me at this point for about the same amount of money.

I've got an i7/950 now, and while a 2600K certainly wouldn't hurt it probably wouldn't be a truly massive upgrade either...mainly because of the 30" monitor my rig is connected to. (Come on, Antilles...)

I normally upgrade every 4 years so I should be upgrading in the fall. But with my Q8400/8GB DDR2 running so smoothly I doubt that it will happen. Most likely I'll just get an SSD to satisfy the upgrade itch. Not knocking SB processors, the 2500K looks like a good value. Just not sucking wind yet on my current platform.
