Loved the book and the movie was pretty good but a little dark for a 6 year old. Kehar lives.

When I was probably 11 me and a couple of buddies (back when kids could go to town alone) rode the bus to town and went to the 25¢ movie, and saw the original version of "The Blob". Of course the scene in the movie theater resembled the theater we were watching it in.

Yea, that one scared the crap out of me, and cutting through the woods in the dark from a friends house would send me running the 1/4 mile or so as fast as I could.

I distinctly remember the movie that made a man out of me - all at the age of 8: The Tall Blond Man with One Black Shoe. I dunno how or why I happened to watch it - but it was with friends and their elder siblings but no parents (maybe some international film festival?), and watching a real live woman (ie, not a magazine) walking away nude (just the butt, nothing frontal) for the first time was a revelation. I did not understand all the feeling of exhilaration I felt then, but it stayed with me for months. Heck, I can still feel the goose bumps I had then...!

Interestingly, maybe because of this experience, I've never associated violence in movies with the 'adult oriented' part. I watched really gory movies and not be impacted, but nudity made it real.
