Lol. I noticed this as well.

Can't really say much that already hasn't been said in this thread: Effects are pretty, features are nice with over-all polished look. Breadcrumb is dumb (imo, prefer tree file system). What's with the retro icons? Load times are [too] long, crashes when trying to use obscure features, Aero glass is a waste.

I'm still excited about it as long as they can get the bugs worked out by Jan '07. Untill then I think I'll stick with my good ol' XP / Linux.

This is weird. I haven't had any problems at all with going into sleep mode on my laptop, or hibernate either. Sleep resumes just like in XP for the most part for me. It takes a "little" longer to resume, but I think thats just because I don't have enough memory (512MB, got 1GB of OCZ coming in today, but because Fedex sucks, they didn't leave it since i'm at work, i really really "really" hate Fedex). But I've had Vista lock up on me a few times but it was more due to an application issue than the OS itself (doing certain things in mIRC for example, like trying to display your system info in a channel, will cause it to crash).

I even have VMware with a copy of Kubuntu 6.06 installed in a virtual machine running in Vista with no problems too. As for all of you that are having serious issues with the OS, there could be several reasons.

The type of hardware could be an issue. Also, the way the DVD was burned could be a problem as well.

I have installed in on my two RAID machines, one with ICH5R and other with NVRAID. In both cases - 32-bit version. Works fairly well, not specific issue beside Outlook 2003 and 2007 going offline all the time.

don't like its memory consumption: 600MB physical RAM plus that much of virtual memory - on boot.

I have managed to disable few services, down to 42. On Windows XP I manage to be under 30.

Window Vista Beta 2 Tested

We recently gave windows vista beta 2 with the latest updates a test on one of our new computer systems. Here is what we experienced...

Good:
1. Great graphics and effects
2. Internet Explorer 7
3. Increased security features
4. Ability to add memory to your system via thumb drive
5. Easier and more powerfull for the average user

Bad:
1. Takes a long time to install
2. Some windows xp programs are incompatiable
3. Slower than windows xp
4. Vista requires alot of hard drive space and memory
5. Cannot install on a machine more than 2-3 years old

Conclusion:
Windows Vista is not nearly ready for release, they need to work on vista being backwards compatiable with previous software titles. They also should create a minimum and maximum feature for installation. In short Windows Vista is not nearly ready for release!

A lot has changed since Beta 2. For example, the install goes a lot faster now (typically < 30 min.), and the overall speed and stability have improved greatly.
