I seem to go through a lot of keyboards here.. they get dirty, spilled on, generally abused..! I picked one up the other day from Walmart (B&M), it's a Micro Innovations, entry-level priced right around $10 (KB400i). I know you can find a huge selection on NewEgg for half the price, but with shipping it's about the same. Anyway, it's got a nice feel to it, pushes back a bit when you type, something akin to the old clickity IBM XT model, though quieter. Still a ways from noiseless though, would be nice if it were a bit quieter.

So just curious if anyone else is a fan of a low-cost keyboard, and if so, what is it?

I like my Logitech Elite $25 Cdn.

The thing that's pissing me off about it is that the letters wear off the keys too easily.
I'm on my second one now, & the keys i use for gaming are mostly letterless now.

Micro$oft Multimedia Keyboard. Got it for less than AU$30 (US$25), and I love it.

Much better than the "Cherry" brand my university uses. They are soo noisey, and get uncormfortable very quickly.

A4Tech has a nice one with the keypad on the left but they don't import it to the States yet.
. Yours might be an A4Tech as they make some for M-I.

I find those Dell Quiet Key keyboards everywhere. I find they're well built and have 3 height adjustments.

Is there any keyboard that doesn't have that stupid limitation where it cannot recognize certain combinations of keys? (for example, on most keyboards, holding down the 0, 7 and 8 keys on the numpad doesn't work and the motherboard beeps at you) This is extremely annoying in games but every keyboard I have seen has the problem.

IDK, I just pressed 078 and it seems to work on my A4Tech cordless kbd, at least I didn't get any beeps. Said something about finding something, something not found, find stopped.

Approximately $10 including shipping. Best keyboard I've ever used in that price range. And personally, I don't enjoy spending $50 on some shortcut buttons that are nearly useless anyway.

That keyboard is VERY quiet, very responsive, and looks okay, too. And for 10 bucks you can't go wrong. It is light years ahead of your average generic keyboard from Office Depot for $15

I've had it happen with several different computers and keyboards and have also read about it on some websites. Is your keyboard connected through PS2 or USB? I wonder if it has anything to do with that; the ones I have tried have all been PS2. This also happens with 0 and many other combinations of two other number keys on the pad. It's really irritating since I prefer use 0 for jumping and several of the other keys for movement in FPS games, but I can't jump in a diagonal direction at all with that setup.

My cordless A4Tech is PS/2 connected.

Nebben,
. LiteOn keyboards used to be called Silitek. It looks like you could get one with the extra function keys for not much more and everything but the extra keys would be the same. Glad that it also comes in beige - I can't deal with black kbds. I do like that it has the OTK (One True Keyboard) layout.

I absolutely love my NMB Keyboard and have been using it since around 1998. It's actually an AT keyboard and I'm using it with a PS/2 adapter.

I first discovered them around that time as they were included with the Integraph systems we ordered at work.

i got an old logitech keyboard from newegg like 2 years ago, its black, and it has a few buttons like internet/volume, but mainly i love how the keys feel. i can type up to 85wpm on it, so its good nough for me. (although, on an old school IBM keyboard, ive hit 100wpm)

It's not the Internet Pro, but the Regualr MSFT Internet Keyboard (no USB inputs) that I love. I picked up 4 a year or so ago for an avg of $5 each (two for $9.99 and two free - yes, all at Staples). Unfortunately, I can't find it anymore, and my "fleet" has grown far more rapidly than I anticipated....

I'm still using my IBM-made "clackety" keyboard from the Pentium 60 box I bought freshman year of college (1994). Solid steel backplate and super long wire to the box coiled up like a telephone cord. They just don't make 'em like this anymore.

I got a "free" ($10 before rebate) no-name USB keyboard at MicroCenter a little while back. It's pretty unreliable in some situations, like during an OS install, but all it cost me in the end was 60 cents sales tax and a 37-cent stamp so what the heck.

I wonder when they will make a keyboard that doesn't have Caps Lock in such a prominent slot on the left side. Caps Lock needs to be tucked away up top by Scroll Lock and Pause.
