I'm really curious about how most of you see these "huge" bands. I know many of you will probably get angry about me not including so and so, but I tried to mainly narrow down to the highest regarded from each generation...but yeah feel free to tell me of any omission.

Anyways, my vote goes to Radiohead and not just because they are from our generation. Their albums are so complex and the attention to detail is astounding. Yeah, there's a thousand more reasons but there's my choice.

I don't know, but U2 gets my vote as the most overrated of the massively popular.

yeah, I totally agree with you there. It would just be hard to not include them with how much attention they are sucked with though.

The Beatles certainly had the most influence on popular music of any rock band... a lot of the music they released in the 1960's still sounds very good today.

lol at the fact Radiohead is on the list...lmao actually. Metallica would be a nice addition.

But on that list, I would say Led Zepplin is a close second to the Beatles as far as popularity goes (if by popular you only mean "heard-of" and not necessarily like)

I still like LZ better than the Beatles. Maybe I just don't get them, but their music just doesn't get to me like Zepp's.

I would agree with you...I don't like the Beatles at all....but he said most popular, not favorite.

No, he said favorite.

At least that's what it said when I got in the thread.

I chose Floyd over Zeppelin and the Beatles (tough choice) because their music is a little more timeless and because David Gilmour inspired me to spend countless hours over the past years researching and learning about guitar equipment and acquiring great tone.

Not that I disagree with how you guys have voted so far, but I'm a little surprised by the amount of Radiohead bashing. But reallly, can you think of a better band to define the 90's and the first half of this decade? The Bends, OK Computer (with its countless #1 rankings in countdowns), and Kid A hangs with the best of these artists. Unfortunately, the song you hear the most is Creep- which is actually a very poor representation of them.

Anyways, I'm very surprised with Led Zeppelin beating the Beatles (who I was close to picking) here, I thought for sure it would be a near shut out.
