Speaking of Rudy, is it really true that he got a sack on the final play of the only game he played in, or is that just Hollywood?
Edit: whateverdude: yeah, the scene in LLV where Elisabeth Shue was sitting in the shower, blood flowing down the drain really froze me when I first saw it.
I'm pretty immune to cheap sentimentality, BUT there are a couple of things that alomost get me...
Soppy strings on the soundtrack.
In "Ghost", when they use the string version of "Unchained Melody" and in "Titanic" when they're playing "Nearer My God To Thee" while showing the montage of people in their beds as the water comes in STILL gets me...ALMOST.
No.......according to the books, Rudy never got a sack......made for a good ending though didn't it! Speaking of Football.....I am sensing that many of you must be to young to have seen/remember "Brian's Song"......That was a #1 tear jerker!
Steel Magnolias
Old Yeller
Ghost (only at the end, when Demi "sees" Sam again)
Dark Victory (old Bette Davis movie)
The Lion King (when Mufasa dies)
Schindlers List is the most memorable tears-jerker for me,
also Rain Man,
Secret & Lies,
It's A Wonderful Life
The Spitfire Grill,
This is My Father,
Brave Heart,
and Red Sorghum also do it for me.
I think the reason that people, including myself, like these movies is because human sadness is the only human emotion that remains unadulterated by the materialistic world. When speaking of happiness, people have different definitions of happiness. But what defines sadness is still universal, and independent of social and financial status.
The sixth sense His wife looked soo sad Saw it in the theater, great movie Didn't get to look around to see how choked other ppl were, i was too busy fighting my own
Heh... I was watching The Sixth Sense with a few friends of mine when it came out. When we got to the car scene I started tearing. My friend looked over, "Hey are you crying?"
*cough* *cough* no er.. just these damn allergies.
