By far spaceballs rules as the most underated movie.... combines all the great space movies (ie star wars, 2001...) together...

Under rated or under recognized huh? Hmmm, well:

Heathers - 1989, Dir. Michael Lehmann.

The Man Who Knew Too Much - 1939 (the original), Dir. A. Hitchcock.

The Great Gatsby - 1974, Dir. Jack Clayton (Coppola did the screen play).

KEVIN SMITH IS A GENIUS. Note my nickname. It is in honor of him. I love all his movies. They are hilarious. Have you ever seen that movie that he wrote the script for? I can't remember it right now but it is something like "Overnight Delivery." It has Reece Witherspoon and it is pretty funny. A more recent movie that has become a favorite of mine is "American Beauty." I never went to see it at the movies because the commercials didn't let me know enough of what it was about. I rented it on tape and I found it is the kind of movie I like. It has no real plot. It's just about some people and the things that happen to them. Plus, it is very funny. That is what makes me like this movie, along with Clerks, Mallrats, and Chasing Amy. Dogma had too much of a plot. Too linear for me. Also along these lines are the movies Pecker and Natural Born Killers. Except NBK is a little more serious than the others.

This thread is so interesting (gonna get home and pull out all the old VHS tapes) I had to put my votes in:

Dark Crystal - had nightmares for weeks over those spooky beetle monster thingys

The Ref - Dennis Leary going toe-to-toe with Kevin Spacey and other dysfunctional people. I laughed for days.

All of Kevin Smith movies. The man is quite creative.

Well...well.... my first post. This place is so inspiring...
(sniffle...sniffle.)

No one at my workplace has seen The Usual Suspects. Someone already mentioned The Princess Bride.

One that no one has yet mentioned yet is Shadowlands its about the life of C.S. Lewis and the life lessons he learned. It's quite good. I thinks its of the same quality as Mr Holland's Opus and The Dead Poets Society.

I read on some hollywood rumor site that Kevin Smith will be writing 2 new Fletch movies. Chevy Chase, may or may not be Fletch, but damn, I can't wait.

Ferris Bueller's Day Off!!

Charlie Sheen stood awake for 3 days straight to get that oh-so-perfect strung out look. Talk about a harbinger of things to come for that poor soul! That movie will always have a special place in my collection!

Since it hasn't been mentioned, I really liked The Game, with Michael Douglas.

dennilfloss,

I didn't see The Usual Suspects until a couple of years after it was released. I have no idea how it did or how popular it was when it was released. I didn't even know the movie existed until my roommate recommended it.

Near Dark, a very under-appreciated but very good vampire flick that all the new vampire flicks borrowed from. A super-cool bar room scene that is one of the best ever! Stars Lance Henrickson and Bill Paxton.

As one of the vampires starts to bite an unshaven bikerdude he utters
"I hate it when they ain't been shaved"

And The Last Boy Scout with Bruce Willis. Excellent action film, the only downfall is the way too much cursing in it.

"Leather pants?"
