Lol, funny thing is I went through the whole game beating it the first time without realizing there was a "bullet time" ability that could be used. I learned about it AFTER I beat it the first weekend I got it. The I was like wtf??? I had to go back and rebeat it again. Man it was sooo much easier the second time because of that.

Dude, how is that even possible???? How can you go through the entire game without knowing what that "hourglass" in the lower left is for????

Hrm

Everquest - bought the game at launch, installed it, proceeded to make a human ranger, in a little town called Surefall Glade (I think I remembered the name of it!)

OMFG I attacked my trainer and he killed me in 1 blow! Am I allowed to go talk to him again, or will he hate me forever?

OMFG I want to leave this town and go out into the wild, but I entered the exit cave during night time, and I can't find my wait out cause it's to dark!!

OMFG I fell into the middle of that giant pit in Blackburrow, now my corpse is at the bottom, past alot of gnolls 4 levels higher than me. My corpse is gone for good

and, after I'd quit playing a month later (cause - computer trouble), and started back playing at the Kunark expansion, coming to realize that the Qeynos Hills and Freeport were, in fact, 2 entirely different towns, heh

I have no idea. It was so long ago. I got the game a bit later after release (like 6 months later) from a friend. Never had the instruction book and didn't know anything about the game. Didn't know any of the controls besides WASD and the mouse. So I just went through it like a normal shooter.

I did something similar with Deus Ex. First time play through I didn't realize I was suppose to upgrade my characters abilities. I thought it was a normal FPS. Didn't realize I had to improve abilities to make the game easier. I will say, both games are pretty damn hard without using those mechanics, and MUCH easier when you do use them.

End of Mass Effect two, it was an OMGWTF u cannot be serious moment. After flying through a galaxy full of death, gang/murderer affiliation and sex, running into that last bit ruined everything. One minute you think its this great title and the next you realize its probably made for 8 year olds.

The ending of the Overlord DLC for ME2. Seriously, it felt like getting punched in the gut.

The WWI landscape scenes in The Darkness were super creepy for me.

I hear Ya. When i had just started playing games, i got myself a copy of Hitman. Till then, i used to think that games have only one motto - shoot anything that moves. The 3rd or 4th mission when i was supposed to meet the chief of police and a warlord in a restaurant was the most frustrating ever cos i used to finish the mission and the mission status log said MISSION FAILED. Had a lot of head scratching moments, when my brother asked me to try walking without shooting. I OMFG'd when one of the gaurds just looked at me without doing anything. Mind you i had never known of stealth games till then and was one of the freakiest moments in gaming i had ever come across.

Hmmm... probably in Shadowbane when I was still fairly new to the game. I was out making the rounds with my thief with a friend and caught a guy paying maintenance on buildings with over 1mil+ gold. Ganked him for spoils! It really wasn't a lot of cash but it was my first big haul and it was a lot for a new player on his first character.

Skyrim: 70 hours into the game, I found out that there was a main quest line.
i think by far one of the best so far ;
it took me around 40 hours to realize what the main quest is and was already on it on the 4th mission r so

Enjoyed reading everyone's omg moments in gaming. Took me awhile to think of mine.

FF1 when it came with that world map and the other side had all the monsters in the game, I think I was like 10-11 years old.. A game that big blew my mind on the NES.

FF2 (USA) Kain betrays you (again), (already mentioned) Rydlia returns to summon Titan wooo!! The twins turning to stone.

FF3 Kefia kills the king and moves the magic statues to damn the world.

Then I remembered a HUGE one, reading about and finally getting my father to buy an Xband for the SNES. Playing Killer Instinct and Mario Kart vs. random people in my city and finally breaking out to "nation wide" play to see how I faired vs. anyone. I remember being so blown away typing an email or message to someone on the east coast. Then later finding out after playing a game, during the chat session if both players picked up the phone at the same time, free long distance phone call!

On PC the first time I played Everquest was huge, full 3D world with other players open to explore was pretty awesome.

Here's a couple for me:

"The Polito form is de-de-dead, insect."

and

"Kharak is burning."

Saint's Row 3 had a multitude of OMFG moments, here's one example
Riding a falling tank out of a cargo plane while in combat with enemy tanks and soldiers and accidentally dumping tons of chemicals on an island in the city, landing said tank, peeking out of the hatch and realizing you just started a zombie apocalypse, then simply driving off. Then, BURT REYNOLDS as himself as the Mayor of Steelport asks you to clean up the mess you made.
Also pretty epic was
destroying the STAG aircraft carrier Daedalus by using plastic surgery to impersonate the leader of STAG and having to end up shooting the reactor to escape
and
if you choose to save Shaundi, Bonnie Tyler's "Holding out for a Hero" plays over the game as you rush to the monument/statue in the bay
.

This has got to be one of my highlights of my gaming existence and it's stuff like this that make me love being a gamer.

in WoW, I was a hunter. Before they patched the game where world dragons were leashed to an area, I pulled the green dragon in Ashenvale and his Dragonkin bodyguards into Oggrimmar during peak(mind you it was not an easy feat). I had my guildmates yell out it was a world event so we got everyone in Oggrimmar to attack them. Little to say, it was a massacre for anyone bellow level 60. The Ogrrimmar AH and bank area were paved with skeletons I got banned for 3 days.

And I agree to whoever posted about Unreal 1. Seeing the open outdoors for the first time after you escape your crashed ship was damn epic. The whole game oozed atmosphere as well, Epic did a great job at creating an unfamiliar alien world that I enjoyed exploring every bit of it. Also the soundtrack was badass. I actually ordered the soundtrack from Epic's website, and I think it was the first thing I've ever bought over the internet

Bonus: Another wow moment for me was the intro to Activision's Mechwarrior 2

Sorry, I left out some details, I did it a few times and got a warning from Blizzard because a lot of people were pissed and reported me and Blizzard's reason was that I was exploiting bugs that were unintended. I decided to ignore their warning and did it a few more times.

"Kharak is burning."

I hadn't thought about this one yet, but yes, this definitely is up there in terms of OMFG moments.

That, and first stepping out in the snowy area that was home to the barbarians in EQ for my first time. It was my first exposure to a graphical MMO (had played GS3 prior to that) and it was definitely a "WOW" moment. I especially liked when I wandered to the high level area there that had the giants that dropped the huge weapons that were worth a few plat each, that was a nice surprise (when someone else was killing them, obviously).

EQ and EVE contain some of my favorite moments in gaming, because you always felt like something was on the line -- dying actually mattered. It's something sorely lacking from current games. I'm currently playing SWTOR, and if I die, it's a 30 second inconvenience. Back in EQ, if someone yelled "Train" in Blackburrow I would get all tense and start panicking while I was looking for a place to hide or flee to the zone exit. I miss that!

"The Polito form is de-de-dead, insect."

That's a good one.

It probably wouldn't shock me so much anymore, but back when I was a younger, less experienced, more naive gamer I totally expected to find her alive.
