Looking back I'm glad that I wasn't able to get the $6k because it would have died a year later. That was one sweet ride.
I love the styling. Unlike most 1980's cars from Japan, the Accord's interior doesn't look like it's from the 1980's, no silver plastic or orange LED displays, and it handles itself quite well for a family car (though it feels completely disconnected from the road when I compare it to the replacement). The extreior is just beautiful though, timeless I think. Something about a sedan with retractible headlights. You know, I haven't yet owned a car that didn't have retracting headlights. 8)

Exactly my point! The exterior was OMG beautiful. Although I'd probably never buy a black car, if I could find a brand new 1988 Honda Accord LX-i, I'd buy it. Ah the memories.

1986 Dodge Daytona, 5spd

It had ~140K, leaked a little oil, but ran like a champ.
Then one day something borke in the front and I lost almost all steering ability while driving. Took it to get looked at and the mechanic said it would cost $1200 to fix. I left the car, being 19 I didn't have $1200 to fix it, let alone the car wasn't worth it. But Man do I MISS it.

I used to drive my parents 1991 Ford Escort. I loved that car. On the day they gave it to me I flipped it into a ditch driving to the bookstore with my brother. I miss that car!!

WAS beautiful is exactly the right phrase in regard to my Accord. Someday I'm going to get my hands on a 1989 SE-i and fix it all up. That's way down the road though.

i had an 85 ford ranger with 155k miles. It didn't work in the rain (dont ask me why) the AC didn't work, it had a top speed of 72mph. It had a rare engine (2.8L V6) that nobody kept parts for. It got about 12 mpg and only held like 10 gallons. I ran out of gas many times trying to go that extra mile. I sold it for almost as much as I paid so at least that went well.

I had a 86' Jeep Cherokee. It was a blast to drive but the tranny went out after 4 months. I miss that thing. After that I had a 1978 Oldsmobile Delta Royale Coupe. It was a huge rwd boat that got 8mpg in city or highway. The thing was sweet and was in great condition.

1976 Silver Vega. Canadian Tire put a large dent in the drivers side door when I took it in for a safety check, which evolved into a rusty door that popped out like a wing.

1991 Honda Accord DX Sedan. Had the car for about 2.5 years now, from the folks. Runs great, looks almost as good as it did the day we drove it off the lot. Love this car!

a very luxurious car by the standards of the time, although by the time i drove ours

My first car is my 1980 Mercedes 450SL. This is a fun first car, I am enjoying it. Hopefully that wont change when we start getting more and more snow here in Illinois.

1st car was a 1982 Toyota HiAce minivan bought in '89 for $10. Sold it in '98 for $200. Looked like a$$ but ran great.
2nd car was a 1988 Citroen BX. Gave it to my sister when I moved to the US this year. Very comfy car with hydraulic suspension.

My first car when I turned 16 (1991) was a 1991 Nissan Hardbody 4x4 truck that was destroyed and then my parents bought me a 1991 Honda Civic.
