In the really olden days when the name of the car was actually spelled out in separate letters my friend had an early '50s Plymouth. He took all the letters off the front of the hood and put back just the L U M P.

It had ~140K, leaked a little oil, but ran like a champ.
Then one day something borke in the front and I lost almost all steering ability while driving. Took it to get looked at and the mechanic said it would cost $1200 to fix. I left the car, being 19 I didn't have $1200 to fix it, let alone the car wasn't worth it. But Man do I MISS it.

Unless your cross member cracked in half, I doubt it was a real $1200 job Was it turbo by any chance?

Calling a Studebaker Hawk "not a bad looking car" has to be one of the biggest understatements ever. Those are absolutely beautiful cars.

My first car when I was 16 was a 1987 Dodge Dakota LE, 3.9l V6 Auto. Although I liked the truck itself, it was just one problem after another and I ended up selling it after 3 years or so to pay for the repair costs.

My second car was a 1982 Toyota Celica GT, 2.4l i4, 5-speed. This rust bucket had 240,000 miles on it and ran like a champion. I purchased it for $300 cash and sold it to a buddy just this last year for $400, and it is still serving him well with a fathomless amount more miles on it. We dubbed it the "Brown Celica of Justice."

My 3rd and current car is a 1987 Toyota Supra Turbo w/ full sports package, 3.0l i6, 5-speed. 115,000 miles and in superb conidition. I simply adore this car.

You guys might like this Studebaker, owned by a local guy near here. He brought this magazine, featuring his car, to the Halloween party I was at recently. I asked why he built up a Studebaker. He said he just liked that style. He put a LOT of work and thought into it. His wife and daughter picked the color. He's won quite a few trophies with it already and that color helped, he said.

i had an 86 dodge 600 es "turbo" convertible. the turbo was added on so it could go up hills, otherwise it never would have made it. and it smoked, horribly bad. but i was older than all my friends, so i was the only one who had a car, and it was a convertible.

1987 Toyota Pick Up
101,000 Miles
4 Speed
No Air
No Radio
No Passenger Side Mirrior
Lots of dents and rust spots.

Bought it for $1000 from my dads friend, drove pretty well considering its old age.

Me and my dad bought an A/C on the recycler for 70 dollars, Changed the clutch, installed an after market radio, and a Passenger side mirror. We fixed a lot of the little dents and rust spots. Had to remove the seat to clean out all this candy and soda stains under from the previous owners kids.

Sold it to my cousin for $700 and then she turned around and sold it for $2500. I shoulda sold it for $2500, Gotta learn not to give into family for so cheap. :disgust::|

1986 Chevy Cavalier 4 door.

Got into a fender bender with a SUV in 1996 with it. The SUV has a dented bumper, the Cav's left front was damaged enough that it wasn't worth repairing.

Family replaced it with a 1996 Toyota Camry.
