I stop, take a breath (in through the nose, out through the mouth), close my eyes, and concentrate on my diaphragm not contracting for a couple seconds.
I used to hold my breath and drink water and it worked fairly well. Now I exhale as much as humanly possible, and then SLOWLY drink water. In the past 5 or so years it has failed me once. And that one time it worked the second time around.
This one works 100% for me. Fill your mouth with water or beer. Take both hands and plug your ears and nostrils at the same time, and swallow, give it a few seconds before releasing.
Focus on my breathing to keep it steady. Hiccups then usually go away with fewer than 5 of them, sometimes less. I don't get them that often though, maybe once every few months.
