up early, alone except for the cats, good coffee with French vanilla creamer, streaming Handel’s Messiah in its entirety. I chose the London Philharmonic Orchestra version this year.

Music it feeds the soul. Happy Christmas people!

i play a happy piece on the piano when I visit my parent's house for Christmas. Christmas is boring. All everyone does is watch TV and I play the piano. Christmas is overrated because it's expensive/ and / ////

Merry Christmas, Geekbabe! My daughter opened her present this morning and we had nice breakfast with bacon, sausage, eggs, and oatmeal. We have our annual family Christmas party later today so I'm smoking some spare ribs to take to the party. All my families and relatives will be there and kids will all receive mountains of gifts from aunts, uncles, cousins, and grandparents. I always look forward to the party because it's the only time I can see and catch up with some of my distant relatives.

My mom is christian and she likes to bring me to this huge church party every Christmas. I usually wait until church sermon and all those lecturing by the pastor/reverend are over before attending. I usually jumped straight into the food. The church bands would usually play songs after songs of Jesus rebirth throughout the meal.

Off to the family gathering, at a niece's in Seattle for the first time. It is usually in Yakima across some snotty mountain passes.
We have soups and deli stuff, goofy gift exchange.

Be glad you don't have to cross the passes this year. LOTS of that nasty white stuff. We got about 3" of snow where we live outside of Silverdale.

That's twice we got snow this year...it's a SNOWPOCALYPSE!

Geekbabe, what we used to call "traditions" have pretty much died away as parents on both sides died and our kids moved away to live their lives. Quieter for me...but sad for Mrs. Boomer. We still decorate and put up our little artificial tree...and exchange gifts, but X-mas just isn't the same without kids underfoot. They bring a level of excitement to the holiday that adults can't match

We (parents, siblings) spend our christmas eves setting up the christmas tree and preparing a meat fondue together (lots of different sauces and meats while drinking plenty of sparkling wine). After dinner we take turns unwrapping our presents, collectively guessing who they're from.

At the radio station I would take people's shifts because I don't like holidays, didn't have family in the area, and liked overtime. That let them spend time with their families. I still don't like holidays, so I don't really do anything. I'm working a little today because I've got stuff that needs to get done by tomorrow.

My family broke the tradition of getting me stuff I dont need! Then we broke the traditional after gift opening nap tradition,,,

Everything else was the same. Up for coffee and gift opening. Prep cooking is done and the ham is in the oven cooking and smelling amazing. Watching some football while the grand kids play with their toys.

I got to see all my kids this year and all but one grandchild. It's been great so far.

I hope everyone is enjoying their Christmas as much as I am enjoying mine.

Wake up at 2PM. Eat "breakfast". Watch streaming movies. Get drunk. Play games on my PC. Go to bed.

I enjoyed the years when my kids were young but find I kind of like the quieter, adult Christmas. No pressure, no expectations, a pleasant time filled with food, music & whatever floats your boat.

This year my family went out for Chinese food on Christmas Eve, I paid for the meal but otherwise gifts were small, the huge container of homebakec goods was a hit with me. . I focused on the theme of warmth for husband & the son still living at home, toasty robes, good boots & winter gear gratefully received. Lots of laughter & hugs.

A perfect holiday

We go for a hike every Christmas as the trails are usually empty. This year, a lot of folks had the same idea. If there is snow on the mountains, we'll drive to snow.

Ignore TV as it only has crappy movies and series on repeat. Game, watch series online, wait for the boring days where all the shops are closed to end.
