3D Movies / TV - I don't care for it at all. Not worth the added admission in movies nor the surcharge for home television sets.

Hashtags. Though I do use them in a humorous manner. E.g., Facebook post:

[mundane selfie taken outside] #itswarmoutside,#winterisfinallyover (etc. - usually 3 or 4 more hashtags.)

My reply: Finally got outside to enjoy the weather? #Iwanttobecooltooandusehashtags #amIdoingitright #Imahipsternow

---
Results: one person ceased using hashtags. 40 people think I'm a jerk. But, I believe the number of people who deep down appreciate that I stopped one idiot friend from using hashtags greatly outnumbers those 40.

5. "Cool" nerds - Since when is it cool to be a nerd? Anyone who says they're a nerd, is not a nerd. Real nerds don't know they're nerds.
Yeah, Michelle Wie says she's a nerd. I absolutely don't get that. She's incredibly beautiful, sexy looking and a super athlete.

I'll go with:

hashtags
skinny jeans
reality TV

"gluten-free" (not legitimate celiac sufferers, but everyone and their grandma is suddenly gluten sensitive)
Non-GMO/organic

helicopter parenting, and the associated social stigma (if not outright criminal charges) that come from thinking your children deserve a measure of independence, and don't need to be subject to constant fear and paranoia.
The threat of "terrorism" - not the actual act of it, but this constant background anxiety that "terrorists" are hiding in every alley ready to blow up everything.

overhyped(priced), underperforming, tech that sells by being "hip" (Beats headphones, monster cable, etc.)
By association, "audiophile" crap, and the idiots who buy into things clearly proven false.
Thin everything - really, I don't need a phone that's thinner than a folded up pair of twenties.
Excessive DPI displays

Yeah, it really drives me nuts. It's like being in the middle of an intersection with 27 roads coming off of it and you don't know which direction you want to take.

Another analogy, it's like trying to undo a knot in string that's already as big as a baseball and it just keeps getting bigger.

This friend has 27 friends you might want to friend, friend away, friend! Find out what they've all been doing....
Zombies and Vampires... Never understood why the lore for each is so variable...
Instagram... Isn't it the same as facebook just less?
F2P games... So many games aren't games anymore. They're second jobs.
24-7 sports coverage... I love sports, but the fact that it's given more importance than any other news disturbs me.

The zombie thing was cool when it started, and for me that was Night of the Living Dead, just the revelation that most people are walking around 1/2 awake at best is the idea. Past that, I'm not into it, except that Shaun of the Dead was funny and well made.

Vampires? Never been interested.

Instagram, don't do it, and rarely pay any attention to facebook... at all.

Games ... I don't.

Sports? I read the sports section, I don't have subscription TV, so 95% of sports coverage isn't available to me. I get enough on the weekends. I do hate it that a lot of high profile sports that used to be available on broadcast TV is now only on subscription TV, but not enough for me to subscribe.

Oh, and I never watch reality TV... of any kind.

Mine used to be iPhones but because of how crappy Android has gotten after 4.2 and given that the Galaxy S6 will have no removable battery nor MicroSD card (not like SD's are useful without being able to manage storage, I sure miss being able to mount as mass storage.
Sheesh, just get a Nokia 520, I have a 64GB microSD in mine and can change the battery in under 10 seconds. I've seen it for $20.

Uh, facial jewelry bugs me, period, aside from ear rings. If it's in your nose or lips, ugh. I always figure that people who do those things have issues and/or are getting some buzz off of people's reactions.

Pets
Homosexuals
Women in the workplace
Toilet paper
Special Olympics
I agree with all this stuff, but I don't get the toilet paper one. TP is one of mankind's greatest inventions.

Now, homosexuals: In my area (S.F. Bay) it's so damn trendy to plug or participate in gay pride and all that shit it makes me sick. It's gotten to the point where it seems as though heterosexual proclivities are something you are ashamed to admit, by a process of deduction. That has to be just sick, and I mean sick in the ordinary sense.

You do realize that humpy's post was sarcasm?

Yours however was not.

It was insulting to the mods and I imagine, insulting to the gay members that we have on this forum.

You need to keep thoughts like this to yourself and not post them here.

Muse responds: I mean no disrespect to anyone, gay or not. I'm in favor of them being open about themselves, proud of who they are, happy, ecstatic. My problem is with the implications I sense so often that not being gay is missing out. Just as I don't think there should be pressure to not be gay, there should be no pressure to be gay. Either is OK, that's my point, and I think that attitude should be what's projected.

I did not pick up on Humpy's post as being sarcasm.

Hmmm. can first person shooters count as a "fad"?

They're been around since Wolf 3D. That was more than 20 years ago.

HASHTAGS! (caps)

I've never used a hashtag, in fact I'm not sure what they are. I hear about them on the news all the time, they say "hashtag #makeafussaboutXYZ" or something. I've thought about looking it up, how it works, I guess it's just a way of finding news/etc. about a subject on the net. Never used it. It seems like the epitome of jumping on bandwagons, i.e. trying to be trendy. Am I wrong/right?

and zombies were around 2000 years before wolf3d. what is your point?

it's a fad now because every video game company wants to be part of the FPS genre ever since halo 2 made fps mainstream on consoles. i'd say golden eye did it, but it was really the only one back then, and halo 2 put online FPS on the map for console gamers. and now cod has taken over that crown, along with an oversaturated FPS market.

I played a free version of Quake some that I downloaded around 20 years ago, haven't messed with them since.

My problem with hashtags is that they're presented as links in some places, and they convey the sense that they are referring to a larger category of "thing" that you can view by clicking on them. That would be really useful and cool. The first time I saw one it was #Ihatewhenmydogpissesinmyshoe or something like that. Of course my assumption was it was a reference to a common complaint, and clicking on it would result in being regaled with hilarious stories and photos of dogs pissing in shoes that all used the same hashtag. No, it seems that this hashtag was a one off, referred to nothing, and seemed to therefor be completely useless. That has been the case 90% of the time I click on a hashtag. WTF.

No no no, don't say that - I have a gluten allergy & I love those people! Miley Cyrus & crew are making more manufacturers release more gluten-free goodies that I can eat, so +1 for that

Renewed interest in zombies == last few years. I just haven't seen FPS "fad". It's seeming pretty consistent interest in FPS's the last 20 years.

My point was pretty obvious

Expanded earlobe rings or whatever you call them

This, and I'll add tattoos. I don't have a problem with either on principle, but the faddishness of the current trend is irritating. It's dribbled down to people who aren't artists, or other "fringe" societies, and being picked up by the perpetual counter help; rather that'll be the outcome, because nobody will take you seriously with droopy ears, and tattoos going up your neck.
