i think only 12 hours, you guys are insane.

I'm sure there is a scientific explanation but I'm too lazy to look it up right now.

IIRC you cannot make up sleep for a prolonged period of time.

Yeah I remember someone telling me about that. You can't make up sleep, but when your body is exhausted, how can you not sleep for a long period of time?

I read that in "The Week" from a couple of weeks ago. The thing is, a prolonged period of sleep deprivation inhibits your brain from functioning in optimal condition so you'd be a little impaired. If you lost sleep for a day or two, then making up would be fine.

<--- sick and tired of my job that requires me to get up at 5:30am every day...

Went to India back in 2002 and went with some friends to Goa... On the beach, one of my friends bought some "haashish" from one of the locals...

Smoked some of that shit (whatever it was) at 4pm on Tuesday, had plans to go out at 9. Around 6pm, got REAL tired and we both decided to take a nap before we went out so we can be refreshed.

Next thing I know, its 3pm the next day and another friend of ours is trying to wake us up. We missed the whole night and most of the next day. Funny thing was I had NO IDEA what day or time it was or anything for a good 3 hours after I woke up. All in all, we slept (passed out) for 20 hours right through... Still to this day wonder what was in that shit we smoked, and never touched anything like that ever again. The other friend suppsoedly attempted to wake us up the night before to go out but he said it looked like we were dead.

Passed out around 3pm one day after starting to drink around 4AM (Wing Bowl)....slept till 7AM. Good 16 hour nap and still had one of the worst hangovers of my life.

I never had a hang over. Yet.

I'd imagine it would be worse after 16 hours on an empty stomach.

When you get your first, don't let it keep you from drinking again.

Part of the problem was that I ate a hot dog around 6AM and that was it all day. So between dinner the day before and waking up the following morning I went +-36 hours with only a hot dog, beer, Red Bull & Vodka and LIIT's in my stomach. Work paged me around noon that day not realizing that I was off...I called in and they said I wasn't speaking english. I hear that I was trying to pay for lap dances with my Acme card.

Wing Bowl is a wonderful event.

About 15 hours for me... I gotta stay up for 24 hours straight before I need that much sleep, though.

I'm with you, even after all-nighters for engineering projects following minimal sleep on prior days fourteen was the most sleep I've had in a row.

Then again, if illness counts, I was basically in bed two days and nights in a row with the flu and a 102-10three temp last year. (sorry, number three button isn't working, family computer here...)

18 hours when I was recovering from a really bad stomach flu. I'd take one of my late father in law's anti-nausea pills for when he took radiation treatment and it would completely knock me on my ass for 4-6 hours. I'd wake up, take another one with some water, and pass right back out.

The most I've ever slept is probably about 10. I've been averaging 6 for the last few months for no good reason.

I'd kill to do 15+ one night over the next few weeks I'm off from school.

I slept for about 20 hours except to get up and go to the bathroom a couple times, after coming off suboxone.

Probably 14hrs, at least that I know of. I was in the hospital when I was younger because of some intestinal infection - even water made me throw up, I had to be on an IV so I wouldn't die of dehydration, much less of lack of food. I probably slept a lot then.

I don't think I've slept for more than 12 hours in my life. I've had times where I've been up for 40-60 hours at a time but even after that I didn't sleep more than 12 hours. Some of you guys are jacked up

longest I've slept was ~18 hours. what I don't get is when you wake up, you feel way more tired than if you had slept only ~7.
