Currently driving a Hyundai Elamtra, insurance on it is cheap, low theft car. Looking at a possible Kia Soul or Kia Optima, the warranty on them is amazing. Does anyone have any experience with either, all I am looking for is a compact SUV/Crossover. Dont want leather or moonroof. Dont fit in a lot of cars as i am very tall. Been looking for weeks and cant find much that I like. Thanks
It's possibly too small for a large American, but Hyundai Kona was recently named North American SUV of the Year. For larger than a subcompact SUV, the Honda CR-V is best in class.

14 Accord. Still love it. I shop primarily for comfort. I'm tall and broad shouldered, makes a lot of cars really uncomfortable. Also, not a huge "car guy." I go back and forth about the idea of leasing after this car (will be paid off in June and has 86k miles.. Hoping to drive to 250..), but I may just buy another top trim Accord and drive it for another decade. Really looking forward to no car payment for a few years.
I'm not a "new car" guy at all, and your Accord is in the sweet spot of the ownership curve IMO. Unless you need new tech, it's past the depreciation hit of the first 4 years, it's still relatively new and costs almost nothing to maintain, and it should still be in great condition (inside/outside) if well cared-for. You don't have to to drive it until the odo hits 200k but if that was my car, I'd definitely at least keep it a few more years.

2002 Lexus GS300. Said I would drive until it dies when I bought it, that was 15 years and 245K miles ago. Love the 2JZ engine, not the easiest engine to work on but it's bulletproof.

Any tips? My buddy just got a '98 GS300 with the 2JZ engine.

It's an incredible car for being 20+ years old. Rides smoother than my '18 Mustang with IRS. Amazing amount of tech features for being as old as it is!

I am digging the ATS atm. Seems like getting a '15 or '16 would be ideal. Premium trim w/ RWD for magnetic ride control.

It is virtually impossible to find a manual trans though ugh. I'd like a '16 so I would only have to deal with the 2nd least crappy CUE system, though it appears you can get them replaced for $1k or so for earlier years so that it is not quite so terrible. Still plenty of warranty as well. Some '14s still have plenty of warranty as well. Guess I just need to find the right one eventually. Maybe after the Viper is paid off in 14 or so months.

How many miles on the car? For peace of mind, I would recommend checking and/or replacing the following:
Timing belt / water pump / cam seals
Spark plugs and ignition wires
Lower ball joint

Those are big ticket items, so if they are in good condition or recently replaced then the car go for another 100K easy.

The same goes for my LS400. These are the things you MUST keep up on and if done these cars will go for hundreds of thousands of miles. My Lexus is a 99 and it still has the looks to fit in with other nice cars in 2019. Super comfy car to drive and a lot of power out of the V8. A real joy to drive.

I think 230k, maybe 270k. I believe the (entire) engine was replaced already.

It definitely needs some TLC...center console replacement, stereo replacement, etc., but it's a surprisingly nice ride for being as old & as high-mileage as it is!

Has anyone seen a Buick Regal Tourx wagon on the road. I'm looking at wagons and it is on my list to check out but have yet to see one on the road.

Several of them around me. My local dealer pretty much only stocks them, other than 2 sedans on the lot. I’ve seen young and old driving them. My wife is looking at them as the 14 Verano we had was the best sedan we’ve owned to date.

May have posted before, dont come around as much as I used to. Currently have a 2001 Suburban I bought around 2006. Has been a damned good truck. I will replace it around 2021-2022 with a Ford Bronco unless it turns out to be a total turd. I wanted an FJ but at this point they are just to old with tech and safety. I am a Ford guy so that works out.

No model selected yet but it will be a station wagon with fold flat seats and a comfy ride. With our cats dying off, we’re getting ready for some long distance touring and looking for a good turnpike cruiser.
I test drove the Buick Regal Tourx and the Nissan Murano, both in the pimp deluxe trim level. Both are pretty nice cars.

I was expecting to like the Murano better than the Tourx because I had previously rented a circa 2010 Murano and liked it but it was not to be. The 2019 Murano has massive blindspots (this coming from an FJ Cruiser owner). The center infotainment console is a mess on the Murano with way too much clutter to be useful while driving. GM did a much better job with the design of their console, nice and clean. The 360 camera/sensor feature on the Murano is interesting but again the display of the information is too cluttered to be practical in real world driving. The display included a little diagram down in the corner which flashed lights around a diagram of the car indicating where obstacles were located. Getting rid of the rest of the crap on the screen and making that diagram bigger would have been a much better approach.

The Murano has a speed limit sensor that the salesman claimed used the forward camera to read speed limit signs (as opposed to getting the info from the navigation system database). Again, an interesting technology but no way in hell do I want it documented that my car told me what the speed limit was.

The Murano definitely has the edge on acceleration and overall handling. The Buick had a smoother ride and less road noise.

So now I'm looking to see what else is out there that meets our criteria (fold flat seats and comfy, but not OMG expensive).

Hit the Minneapolis Auto-Show this morning. Goal was to look at the Audi Q7. But I ran across the Lincoln Nautilus and walked away impressed. The Q7 felt dated on its interior compared to other luxury brands. The Q8 is more in line with expectations. I currently own a 2014 Mazda CX-5 which is slated to go to the wifey when her 2006 Rav 4 bites the dust. Off to test drive next weekend.

Traded in the 2008 Fit for a 2018 Buick Regal Tourx on Saturday. Looks like this:

So far, so good. Nice smooth, quiet ride; your grandfather's Oldsmobile. It has the exploding hood which might be kind of cool, but to be honest, I'm a bit nervous about trying out that feature.

I owned a 2008 Fit for a few years. Loved the gas mileage, hated the ride. It was also scary trying to pass trucks lol

I'll be hanging onto my 2013 FR-S for a couple more years (got super lucky on no VS recall) and my 06 Impreza indefinitely. Just replaced the front end links over the weekend and it feels 10 years newer. Had to cut both lower parts off though... New England cars FTL

Nice! Take some pics and update us on what you think. I feel like because it’s a Buick a lot of people just want to hate it because it’s a Buick. But I haven’t really heard from anyone local that has one that doesn’t like it.

I think I caused marital strife today. I had go back to the dealer to pick up the cargo mat for the car. I was installing it when a couple pulled in next to me. The woman started gushing about how nice the car looks. The guy didn’t say anything but his look said he didn’t come there to buy a wagon. The woman said she had never seen one before so I mentioned that the dealer had a bunch in stock. That earned me a black look from the husband.

Like I said earlier in the thread, our dealer has a ton of them, but is only stocking 4 sport backs. I haven’t had a chance to ask why, I don’t think it’s due to being so popular they can’t keep them on the lot. Their orders for new stock don’t support that. It seems they are really getting on the tourX.

Just picked up a 2016 A8L 4.0T with 10k miles. This thing is ridiculously fast for how big it is.

About to take possession of a 1997 corolla 5 speed. Not exactly flash but you can't beat it for reliability. Put about 400 miles on it today and it didn't miss a beat. Needs a little bit of work like the front motor mount needs replacing and possibly front shocks/struts but the major important stuff like the motor, clutch and ac and all electrical works without fail.

maybe put a bit of love into the old girl and drive it into the ground then replace it with a newer model Corolla. Some friends vow anything pre 2003 is the way to go.Its my third Toyota besides my first car being a 86 Tercel and a 91 corolla and i never had a single issue with any of them.

Currently having the time of my life with a 2017 Macan S that i got new. Did European Delivery and drove all around Germany into France, Brussels, back to Germany. Did some laps in the nurburgring, drove through champagne, France, and drove on the German Autobahns. Put 2500 miles on it in Europe before having them ship it back to the USA.

Got it cobb tunes shortly after + Ceramic coated.

Amazing car, smiles per mile 100+

My good weather driver:

Spent 6 months or so slowly getting it back to road worthy from the mechanically rough condition when I bought it. (driveable for about a year now) 4 cyl (2.6L) 5 speed. Still fixing smaller issues that don't affect it driving, and the previous paint job wasn't cleared so its pretty oxidized. Its not fast, but its rwd and it corners good with the suspension mods I've done.
I dont plan on replacing it anytime soon, so there isnt really a 'next' car for me. Not to say there isnt a whole lot of somewhat niche vehicles I'd rock in a heartbeat, but I enjoy this one as it is, and the room for improvement the chassis allows.
