I have lots of hobbies but nothing expensive though

I probaly spend my money just going out and such not really on a single hobby though. I am a college student and only a part time job so not really enough money to have an expensive hobby.

I KNOW when I'm older I'm going to get an ass kicking HT system and Sound System with the works

Guitars. My current setup cost $1300, and I'd like to add a pedal or two, so that's another $200. I could also use an acoustic, and a decent one will run me $600. I could easily drop $15000 on a full setup though.

My new one will be motorcycles. I've got a 2000 r6 lined up (not bought yet though), and I've already got my jacket ($640)...

I don't seem to have any cheap hobbies:

Bicycling: Eddy Merckx MX Leader road bike (full Record 9spd), American Bicycle Manufacturing Comp-Lite mountain bike (full XT), Bob Jackson road bike converted to single/fixed gear trainer (gotta love those flip-flop hubs), plus my wife's bikes, a room full of wheels and all the tools. Add gas/hotel/entry fees/repairs to that for racing every year. I'd be afraid to add it all up.:Q

Golf: clubs are expensive, a round is at least $30, I play almost every weekend. I just can't think of a better way to spend an afternoon with friends, so it's worth it.

House: you homeowners know what I'm talking about. Always something to fix or remodel or plant or whatever. Our house is kinda small and the yard was a disaster when we bought it so I've been pretty busy every weekend with it. Seems like every trip to Home Depot is at least a hundred bucks.

Had a motorcycle but recently sold it. I'm sure I'll get another one as they are completely addictive, but I don't have a garage right now....dammit.

EDIT- Forgot about the guitars. mid-80s Ibanez RS440, Custom silk & steel acoustic, Washburn 12-string acoustic, and (drum roll please) a 1957 Les Paul TV model. Serial #0000000026

Movie watching, I spend at least $100 a week buying, renting and going to movies in the theatres. I think I buy about 5 dvds a week on average, but I think I am going to stop that soon.

Nice bikes! I remember at one point American made a beryllium frame, which was at that point the lightest mountain bike in the world, and cost about $20,000 to build - it was subsequently stolen from the factory in Minnesota - d'oh!

I have a Serotta ATi mountain bike (known today as the Colorado Hardtail, basically a Legend Ti mountain frame) with Marzocchi Bomber Z2 and XT/XTR, a Moots VaMoots road bike with Look HSC3 and Record/Chorus, and a DeRosa SLX Professional with Chorus/Record, along with boxes and boxes of spare parts and other junk. I think the Serotta is my favorite. My next bike will probably be a FS mountain bike, probably either a Specialized FSR or Santa Cruz Superlight (or, if I win the lottery, a Seven Duo).

Whoa! Someone actually remembers ABM! I remember the fabled Be frame.....and it getting stolen. hehe. I keep wondering when the Aluminum-Beryllium alloys are going to (if ever) make an appearance. They were all anyone could talk about a few years ago and now nothing.

I do like my Comp, I've had it for years and just keep upgrading as things break....the frame is just indestructable. Too bad they went under as they made nice stuff.

I think my next toy will be a Steelman SR once the old tax return comes in.

Hee hee - when I lived in Madison, WI, there was a spectacularly demented shop owner (the store was Tail Wind Cyclery) who was a fanatical American booster. He had been a Klein dealer (this was years before the Trek acquisition, when Klein was still a superpremium small builder), but after they refused to warranty a broken frame he jumped ship to American and started a nonstop smear campaign against Klein - he walked around Interbike and CABDA with the broken frame, telling the story to anyone who would listen.

The Steelmans are really nice. A friend has a Steelman Eurocross, which he won at a raffle at one of the Surf City 'cross races. It is beautiful, though disappointingly so race-oriented that it is not the most useful bike in town (e.g., very narrow tire clearance, no provision for fenders, no water-bottle bosses). For what it's worth I think steel is probably the best material for road bikes, and I slightly prefer the ride of my DeRosa to my Moots.

Scuba diving has been an expensive hobby for me. You think you've purchased everything when you get one of every piece of gear that you could possibly need... then you want BETTER pieces of gear... thicker suits... dry suits... dive computers that will do nitrox instead of just air... more comfortable or faster fins... brighter dive lights... larger/smaller/lighter tanks... BCDs with newer features... the list goes on.

Along with this new gear comes new training and new certifications... from Open Water to Advanced to Rescue Diver to Divemaster, and that doesn't count the specialty certifications or instructor level certifications. At several hundred dollars a course, it can start to pile up.

A dive boat would be nice, too.

Of course, this hobby doesn't matter as much as the new expensive "hobby" that I'll be starting around August 12th... the birth of my first child. I'm a happy dad(-to-be).

Guns. Some semi autos, but a few full autos.

My next purchase is a full auto Mac-11 with a silencer, and a belt fed full auto 1919.

Playing guitar is a very expensive hobby for me. I can go into a music store and spend over a $1000 in less than five minutes. I have found that with guitar, there is always something else to buy. You gotta restring the things fairly often at a minimum. Plus, for electric guitar, different guitars produce different sounds, so if you are looking for a specific sound, say for instance for Jazz sounds, a Gibson Les Paul will not produce the sound as a hollow-body Gibson ES-355. Then to get the great bluesy sound of Stevie Ray Vaughan, you gotta have a Fender Stratocaster. It definitely doesn't take me long to spend a lot of money.

Right now I've been blowing a lot of money off on my G3 Acura Integra..buying a Turbonetics T3/T4 turbo to turbo it.. that'll come out to probably around $3,000 when all is said and done.. I could easily blow off $20k on mods alone I'm sure anyone into this could.

Car audio is expensive, as well as skiing..I've been racing since a young age and I consistantly find myself spending thousands on end for a few months of enjoyment.

I'm going with the guitar people on this one.

Every year I upgrade my rig in some fashion or another. In 2001 it was replacing the pickups in my electric, buying new pedals, and getting a better amp. I think in 2002 I'm going to sell my ~$500 acoustic and go for a ~$1500 one. I hate going to the music store, because the salesmen always say "Here, try this one. I know this beauty is a little out of your range, but..." because it spoils me for everything in my intended price range. Grr.
