It may still apply. I do not know if he still has CRTs.
And even so, there is motion sickness in gaming along with the refresh rates of the pixels and frames not matching or being smooth enough from the video card source to the input lag (possible) to the display (HDTV or LCD monitor otherwise).
And it may not mesh or match well with some people's eyes. Not all the Oculus Rift devices can possibly solve this in dealing with visual motion.
