PS. WRONG FORUM!

Nice list. Pretty much my Top 5 too, I'd only replace FF2 with Chrono Trigger and Zelda gets bumped just barely by Super Metroid, big sentimental points involved with that decision though.

ActRaiser and UN Squadron are spectacular games that I know a lot of people like but are still second tier titles compared to the popular releases (Killer Instinct, Donkey Kong Country, etc..) Here's hoping they live on in an eventual DS port like many other SNES games mentioned here.

Honorable mentions: Hyperzone, Populous, Mario Paint, Super Punch-Out

Any truth to that?

When I was young and this game came out I remember renting it 6 weekends straight before beating it even though I rarely ever put it down when I had it, so not in my opinion. There's so many zones to go through and so much stuff to find, but aside from that a lot of the time after you find something crucial you have to go back through areas you already cleared to continue through the game, so there's some backtracking involved but nothing major or irritating. The thing about Super Metroid is it's challenging but not hard and all the additional powers you come across add a lot of fun to getting past areas. It just flowed so well and there was always stuff to do so time did seem to fly by at times, so maybe it would "feel" short to some, but I would never say it's "really short".

I loved both Act Raiser and UN Squadron

Act Raiser 2 didn't have that build the town thing so it sucked

Street Fighter 2. It set the modern trend as the first game to have months/years of hype during development only to be delayed over and over again. The difference is that the finished product actually lived up to the hype as well. It was the sole reason I bought a SNES and pretty much the only game I played on it retiring it to my brother.

Man...tough one:

But it has to include:
Super Mario Kart
Super Mario All Stars
Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past

I played all those games a TON.

I liked the MegaMans and enjoyed Act Raiser...but I didn't buy any of them.

Super Metriod was pretty awesome...great sequel. I only rented it though, it was fairly short I think. The environments were just really interesting. The new Castlevania and Contra were fucking badass as well....but again, beat with rentals so no reason to buy.

Never saw the big deal with Donkey Kong Country games...graphics were good and the mine cart levels were tense but it was kind of meh to me.

Super Mario Kart
Super Mario World 1 and 2
Super Metroid
Super Castlevania

they really abused the "super" thing back then.
