TNT2, now I have a 5970. Amazing how far technology has come.
feel the same way lol. my first comp when i was 11 had a TNT2 in it back in 2001 i think. went to a Radeon 9250SE 128mb in 2004, and then i got a 9800 pro 128mb back in late 2005 sometime for free, before going to a 7900GT in 2006. went to a 2900PRO, a 4670 for a short stint followed by my 9800GTX 512mb for a while. went to a 5870 and another 3 weeks later with my current rig

You have good taste.
i had the S3 too.

from what i remember:
S3 Virge 4MB
then ATI Rage2 Pro 8MB
later added Creative VooDoo 2 8MB
then ELSA Geforce2 GTS 32MB (i was king back then)
then SiS FX661 IGP
going to modern graphics: ATI X850XT 256MB -> ATI X1950Pro 256MB -> Geforce 8800GTS 512MB -> ATI 4850 512MB

This was the first GPU I went out and bought myself.
NVidia GForce 440MX.
It was a pretty good little card and served me well.

Next up was an FX5600 "S" model 128MB which is why I went for an ATi card after that.

My 486DX2 had an onboard Trident with it's own 1MB (expandable to 2MB if I recall correctly) of memory. My first discreet card was a Radeon 32MB DDR... I think it was the 7200 maybe? I loved that card, it played Half Life and Quake every bit as well as my buddies GeForce GTS... of course his card was DX8 capable. I had to jump to a GeForce Ti4200 for DX8.

XFX GeForce FX5200, before the 5200 I've had some Pentium 3 laptops and onboard chips.

I think the 4 meg version $300 Diamond EDGE 3D, nvidia's first.

Bu that was not as bad as my first CD Rom drive.
$600 Sony Laser Library, which was an external 1x CD rom player.

LOL, almost the same here...I had the 2MB version.

Edit: I bought this card to play Earthsiege and Mechwarrior on my 486/DX2-50. Good memories.

Not sure what my Atari 800XL had, but my first PC videocard was ATI Mach 32 with 2MB of DRAM. 1MB was standard, so I decided to splurge

Added the Voodoo1 to it a couple years later, and that changed everything.

oem trident 1mb vga

No, you're a rooky ... my first video card was the color card that went into the first IBM PC. The standard was a monochrome so you had to add the color card for the color display. We're talking 1982/1983 time frame!

Diamond Viper V330 PCI 4MB - had the nvidia Riva128, and there wasn't even a heatsink over the GPU.Then again, I can't think of too many games that used 3D exclusively back then. I played Starcraft, Starcraft, and... more Starcraft in all it's 640x480 256 color glory.

My first computer was a Gateway in ~2000 that shipped with a TNT2 32MB. Played a large number of games off the Quake 3 engine and even the UT2004 demo. Then I was playing Mafia and wanted bigger view distances, so I bought my first video card, a 9600 Pro 128MB as a drop in replacement for the TNT2. Probably a filter down effect from all the good press the 9700 was getting.

Later that year I cobbled together my first system, adding a fabled 9800 Pro from HIS. Played HL2 and Doom 3 on it. In 2005, I sold that system and did a new build with an x800 Pro 128 MB. In 2006, I got a new LCD monitor with 1280x1024 resolution, and needed a bit more umph in Oblivion and Source engine games, so picked up a Saphire x1800xt 256MB. It was screaming hot and hella loud, but it served admirably for 4 years and plowed through Crysis and Far Cry 2 as best it could. Replaced in January with a HIS 5770 1GB, which is basically a ninja in comparison.

I suppose the first one I bought would be the 9800pro.

I can't remember if it was a Rage Fury, or 3d Rage pro that would have been the first card I went along to help choose. Needed one with video output.
