Matrox Mystique 4mb Or if you mean a real 3d card, a voodoo2 8mb, diamond I think. I'm not sure they even _had_ on-board video back then. In retrospect I think I made the right decision in not paying more for the 12mb version!

ATi Graphics Ultra Pro, Mach32, 1MB VESA bus card. Got it with my Gatway 486-33. Thing had terible Windoze drivers, but it was smokin' fast for DOS games.

That got retired when I got a Pentium 133 box; it had an STB Powergraph 64v in it.

Swapped that for the Creative Labs Rendition V1000 card, but went back to the STB card plus a 4 meg Voodoo card.

The very first card that I could call my own was a Powercolor Geforce MX400. At that time, Counter Strike was the craze, Warcraft III was coming out of beta and Starcraft was fading out of its prime. Great, reliable card.

Replaced that with a Geforce 3 Ti with a broken capacitor that I taped back on.

Then the following:

MSI Geforce 4 Ti4200
ATI 9600XT AIW
XFX Geforce 6600GT
Geforce 6800 NU AGP - unlocked
ATI X800 XL
BFG 6800GT
EVGA 7800GT
MSI 7900 GS <-- Woot.com fiasco
ATI X1900 AIW <-- worst card I've ever purchased
ATI X1800XT 512mb
ATI X1900XT 512mb
EVGA Geforce 8800 GTS 320mb
EVGA Geforce 8800 GT 512mb
Powercolor ATI 4850 512mb <-- 2nd worst card I've ever purchased
ATI 4870 1gb

Out of all these videocards, I would have to say the very first one I purchased was my favorite. The MX400 wasn't exactly a beast, but I remember turning on FPS in the console on counterstrike and seeing it hit 100!

Honestly? It was so long ago I don't remember. I probably had an VGA or XVGA card or something like that, even before I Voodoo card. Were there monochrome cards? I might even have had one of those.

VESA Trident something or rather with like 512k memory if that.

My first 3d card was a S3 Virge Accelerator (decellerator) with 2 mb of memory.

First REAL 3d card was either a monster 3d or riva 128 card.. Then I got a STB 4400 AGP a little later on.. and so on and so forth.

The first video card I consciously selected was the GeForce 3 Ti 200, which I opted for when ordering a Dell Dimension 8200. The first card I bought as a discrete product was the ATi Radeon 9600 XT, which was probably one of the best-value cards of its era for those of us who couldn't afford the 9700 / 9800 Pro. I never played any games on it though, ha.

My current card, an ASUS EN9600GT, I bought primarily for aesthetic reasons -- I mean the design of the physical card and not its video capabilities. I had originally felt putting artwork on video cards was ridiculous (they're inside cases, and even in a windowed case, cards face the wrong way in an ATX rig, but the ASUS 'sakura girl' made a convert of me.

I think it was a Riva TNT...not sure on memory for it. Then it was a GeForce 2 GTS. I used that card probably the longest time out of all my videocards because other than my current 7900 GTO (yes, outdated), I was upgrading my card every year or something stupid like that.

Diamond Viper V330 4MB then added a Diamond Monster 3D for that extra "Oomph!" which really didn't pan out very well. Then moved up to a Hercules 3D something or other, a Radeon 7000, Radeon AIW 8500, Radeon 9800 Pro, X800, X1900GT, 8800GTS 320, 8800GTS 512 and finally the GTX 260s in my sig.

Haven't upgraded in a while, just haven't got the time for gaming like I used to. Only reason I would even consider upgrading these days is for significantly higher F@H PPD.

Technically, my first video card was a Diamond Stealth (I want to say it was of the 3D variety). My next video card was an nvidia geforce MX420.

My first REAL video card (my OWN and something I cared about) was a 6600NU. I hated the computer it was on, though.

The first retail boxed video card that I purchased was a Voodoo 3 3000 PCI. Everything prior was whatever came with the OEM system.

Hard to imagine that it was 10 years ago that I purchased the card for Counter-Strike which is still alive and kicking today.

I can't even remember what my first one was though I think it was a trident something.
I think next was an ATI All in Wonder. After that an Oxygen VX1 1600sw (which I'm actually still using). After that 6200>7600GS> 8800 GTS 320> 8800 GTS 512> 4850> 5770
