Two new Nexus phones are rumored for fall 2015: the 5.7" 'Angler' by Huawei and the 5.2" 'Bullhead' by LG.

My wish list?

Simply take the LG G4 and shrink it to 5.2". Leave the main camera as-is. Leave the replaceable battery and SD card support as-is. Give it Android M with fingerprint security support and charge $300-$500 for it. I'd buy it in a second!

The 'Angler' phone doesn't interest me.

In order of my priorities:

1) Price. $350/$400 for low storage/higher storage option. Base should be 32 GB, higher storage should be 64 GB. I personally don't care for microSD expansion, but it would be nice to have.

2) Screen: 5.0 - 5.2" max at 1080p. 1080p is fine for most people, and should offer better battery performance than a 2k display. I just want it to be a similar size to the original Nexus 5 and not the miserable N6.

3) CPU: Latest 808/810/whatever Qualcomm has in Oct./Nov.

4) Fingerprint reader

5) Project Fi support (not important, but does sound cool)

1) SD card support

2) 5.2" max, 1080p max.

3. "good" camera

4) ideally, IP67 rating or better

5) 32GB standard, no more than $400

I'm okay for the processor Snapdragon(808 vs 810). 32gb is enough. Sure 5.2-inch, 1080p is perfect!

1) Price 32GB for $350 and 64GB for $400, microSD would be nice but is highly unlikely.

2) 5.2" max, 1080p max.

3) Decent camera that's also fast

4) 808 and fingerprint reader

5) Black Friday/Cyber Monday promo because that's when I'm ordering

Time to sell my Nexus 5 soon, will be using an LG G2 in the interim.

Personally, I'd take the G4 and give it front facing speakers and call it a day (maybe upgrade to a Snapdragon 810).

I get that they make the phones a little taller, but HTC, Sony and Motorola have shown them to be so very awesome. These are portable media devices, so why isn't sound more important?

I'm more interested in the Huawei phone.
If I wanted a nice compact 5.2" phone, I can just get a G2. Cheap right now and still flys.
I'd like to try a phablet for once and see if I like it. I was interested in getting the Huawei Mate7 but I'll wait for their next offering.

We all know that the Nexus devices are similar with the high end devices from the manufacturer selected by Google.

For example Nexus 5 is in fact a LG G2 with weaker camera and a smaller battery.

So the next Nexus 5 will have some weaker components in order to have a low price.
If are not the hardware components then it will be cheap plastic materials and so on.

However I will join the gang of dreamers and post my wishlist for next Nexus device:

- a better camera
- more shooting modes for camera (similar with the ones from Samsung, Iphone and etc)
- camera should be at the same level with the back cover of the device
- amoled screen
- motorola notifications
- better battery life
- different case colors
- design should be similar with nexus 6 or motorola
- nice to have if the case will have some aluminium parts
- finger print to prevent stealing
- software to prevent stealing something like find my iphone but implemented in the CPU of the device and not inside the OS. If is in the OS then the device can be started in recovery mode, everything is erase and no way to find your device

Huawei has experience with touch biometrics, but LG hasn't introduced it into any of their flagships. I find it a bit unlikely they'll let a Nexus phone have it before their own flagship.

Also - while it'd be nice, it's probably unlikely either phone will buck the trend of Nexus devices not supporting mSD. My sense of the new support in Android M was primarily for developing markets where base storage is very low and cheap additional storage is important - if you're serious about enabling the next billion.

If LG builds a enhanced Nexus 5 with the S808, internals similar to the G4 including camera, 1080p screen, then I think you'll have a good mid-range device and they'll be able to sell it at $350.

The Huawei probably will be more along the lines of the Nexus 6 - higher end hardware, touch biometrics, bigger screen (probably 1440p), bigger price tag.

Main things I want are USB C and a finger printer reader. Oh and UFS storage.

My wish list is by then we get a SoC that isn't the 808 or 810.

I'd pay more. Easily up to $450 for that.

I really love the soft touch back on the Nexus 5 and Nexus 7 2013. I really hope that comes back in the next Nexus phones.

I imagine the days of cheap Nexus products are done though.

Battery life. Battery life, battery life, battery life. I'm tired of Nexus phones that are all mysteriously shorter-lived than non-stock devices. Give me a 2015 Nexus 5 that comfortably lasts through the day and I'll be happy.

A good camera. Google has been improving, but it never quite seems to get to that point where you can reliably take good shots with a Nexus. I'm looking for iPhone/GS6/G4 levels of consistent quality.

An iPhone-style fingerprint reader. If you've ever been required to PIN-lock your phone for work, this is a lifesaver. It makes unlocking about as easy as if you had no code at all. I'm not expecting this to show up at all, but it'd sure be nice if it did.

I think a finger print reader is more likely seeing as how that is a big part of Android M.

Google just doesn't care about camera quality for some reason. I suspect because most of them are male and childless. Same reason anything parental on the Google side of the fence is a joke.

But it's not clear what price point Google is aiming for. Will they go back to the N5-level of pricing? Or are they sticking with the "premium" pricing of the N6?

The N6 cost $650 because it was a 6-inch phone with a Quad HD screen at a time when that resolution was hard to find on any phone, let alone a giant one. I'd expect an updated Nexus 5 to cost considerably less due to both the smaller screen and falling display costs.

1.) 5.0 - 5.2", Samsung's AMOLED that's on the Galaxy S6, larger battery.

2.) Forget about the hackjob that is SnapDragon 810 and 808 which was implemented as a stopgap solution to battle Apple and give us Qualcomm's new processor that is expected to be sampling this fall using Samsung's 14nm process. Going from a Nexus 5(SnapDragon 800) to SnapDragon 808/810 would feel more like a side grade than anything else. The only people that would benefit are those upgrading from a Nexus 4...or God forbid, a Galaxy Nexus.

3.) Add USB C and keeping wireless charging.

4.) Add UFS as a bonus.

5.) Nexus 6 camera is good, they just need to make it faster.

6.) I'd happily cough up $600-650 for such a phone with all those listed features.

7.) If they're going to give a cookie cutter SnapDragon 808/810 phone without those features, they damn well better not charge more than $400-450 for it.

8.) I don't care about "fluff" things like fingerprint, biometrics, liquid metal build, MicroSD(32/64GB NAND is good enough for me), etc...

Offer a 128gig version

That's the only thing on my list, because everything else I just don't see happening. There hasn't been a nexus device w/ SD support yet, and I don't see it happening now (especially since even Samsung stopped supporting them). If you're not going to give me the expandable storage option, at least give me enough internal space to not need it. Until that happens, I'll never be able to consider a Nexus phone as an option.

As far as I'm concerned they could keep performance the exact same, with the same quality display, shrink what they could on newer process and shove a 4000+ mAh battery in there.

Don't care if its the same or a little bit thicker. I'd buy it day one assuming you even could; they'd probably be back ordered for a while.

Some specs have leaked:

First up is LG’s rumored Nexus phone, which could be a reboot of the popular Nexus 5 released in 2013. The device sounds pretty sweet, and apparently packs a 5.2-inch 1080p display, a 3180mAh battery, a Snapdragon 620 processor, 4GB of RAM, 64GB of storage, a 13-megapixel rear camera with OIS and a 4-megapixel iris-scanning camera in front. The new Nexus 5 could also feature a rear power button/fingerprint reader, wireless charging and a USB-C port with QuickCharge 2.0.

http://www.technobuffalo.com/2015/08/04/new-lg-nexus-5-huawei-nexus-specs-leaked/

If that is real I will be one of the people refreshing like a crazy person to get one. That large battery plus OIS plus a not broken USB-C port, plus the right screen resolution for the size. Heck I even like the SoC. Can't tell you how excited I am.

Yeah, after hearing about the Note 5's possibly anemic 3000mah battery, this one is the last bright hope I have for any phone this year.

Does no one try alternate camera apps?

Focus lag on a Nexus is completely the fault of the stock camera app.

Remember if they go with Premium pricing, I expect a premium product...screen quality and brightness, storage capacity, battery life and all.

People treat the N5 like a godsend at its price point, but we need to remember that it had many weaknesses.
Relatively small storage space, battery life was a big improvement over the Nexus 4, but still weak compared to the competition, the screen wasn't very bright or lustrous compared to the competition, etc etc.
However it was CHEAP...so its weaknesses were overlooked. Once you charge 200-300 dollars extra, those details won't be overlooked anymore
