That's a fan render, not anything even remotely reliable.

It's a render based on the same leaks I posted before, it's accurate in dimensions and HW features placement but not in materials, since it was based on schematics.

I wish I had gotten a white Nexus 5 only because of the speaker dot being white, making it easier to quickly tell which way to hold the phone. If it's the same way with the N5 2015, I'll wait and see what colors come out before diving in.

Power and volume buttons didn't help?

but a big advantage of the iPhone's front-mounted Touch ID (and the Galaxy S6 reader that copied it) is that you can easily unlock your phone without picking it up. That's far from a dealbreaker, it's just noteworthy.

Funny you mention that, what if you're using the new n5 in a car holder, you're going to have to take it out of the holder every time to unlock it?

If you have a Bluetooth enabled stereo in the car than that issue is mitigated with the use of smart unlock.

As mentioned by cpacini you would either setup Bluetooth for Smart Unlock or you'd just unlock via pattern/passcode in that specific scenario.

New specs leaked, kinda have my bummed out honestly:

5.2-inch 2K display
Snapdragon 808 64-bit hexa-core (Dual-Core Cortex A72 @ 1.8GHz + Quad-Core Cortex A53 @ 1.44GHz) Adreno 418
3GB RAM
13MP Sony IMX278 four-color RGBW sensor (also found on the Huawei P8) with the same OIS as the LG G4
LTE Cat 9 with support for 450Mbps speeds

http://phandroid.com/2015/08/26/lg-nexus-5-2015-rumored-specs-updated/

I like the camera, and I don't mind the 808. The 2K screen would be a huge letdown though, as it would guarantee yet another Nexus with a crappy battery. Also I would much prefer 4GB of RAM.

Rumors are also saying that maybe the Huawei will get the 820 despite earlier reports. I REALLY REALLY don't want a phablet but if the LG one has the 808 and the Huawei one has a 820 I am getting the Huawei.

I'm of the same mind if it really has the 820 (I'm 99% sure it won't). I'm not happy about the 2k screen either.

Did the MAXX phones not do well? Why doesn't any manufacturer create a high battery phone and really market that fact hard?

The ONLY reason I could get excited about the 2K screen is that it is better for VR and cardboard. But how much value is that really?

Also to be frank I think LG's build quality is lacking across the board. So many reports of Nexus 4/5s falling apart, G4 backs coming off or wearing down quickly, etc. If the Huawei Nexus isn't crazy more expensive I might be tempted just to have a phone that will last three years. They put a 810 in that thing and I am out though, I refuse to own that garbage SoC I don't care how they have refined it.

What is so wrong with 2K? You do know it is hardly any larger than 1080p. 2K = 2048×1080.

As if you'll resist future devices for that long!

I would like to. There hasn't really been a major leap forward in Android smartphones since the G2 in my opinion, and at some point it becomes a case of diminishing returns. If the camera is good enough and the fingerprint reader doesn't suck I can't think of anything more I want out of a smartphone than what the Nexus 2015 should have. Even if 2016 SoCs are this massive leap at the end of the day applications aren't keeping up.

I would love to break my 14 month average on smartphone replacement and use my mobile tech budget on something else. Like an actual nice smartwatch to replace my G Watch, if I could do it again I would have gotten the Moto 360 if for no other reason than I could have lorded its round superiority over Apple Watch owners in my life. I completely missed an opportunity in that situation to be a nerd deucebag (they all think my G Watch is ugly) and I don't want that to happen again.

Heck that Google router looks pretty nice...

Just my personal experience, but year and half with a Nexus 5, year and half with a L90, and currently using a G4, it's been a pretty good experience. I'd buy another LG again in a heart beat.

The G4's QHD screen is really pretty sweet. Pictures, in particular, are really nice on it. It's not quite the eye popping stunner the S6/Note 5 are, but it's still easily the best screen I've seen on a phone aside from those Samsung AMOLEDs. I think it's actually a pretty nice upgrade on the previous Oneplus One I was using.

I'm just a little miffed because the only thing I dislike about LG phones is the shape/design of their flagships. I think they put the curves in all the wrong places that make them unattractive to me. This started all the way back to Nexus 4, so while I kept wanting to try a Nexus (the 6 was too big, so it doesn't count), the fact that LG kept making them ensured that I'll never get to have one.

I did use the lower-mid level Optimus L9 for a few weeks (my wife then took it), which looks and feels fantastic in my hands. Why they don't make their flagships look like that is beyond me.

I thought 820 was not going come out until next year.

I will fully admit I am probably biased. My only LG mobile product ever is my watch, and I am pissed one of it's contracts corroded. Makes charging kinda a pain.

I sure hope it won't have a QHD display. It would mean that it will struggle to outlast my Moto X Play and make the decision to upgrade very difficult. I don't want a regression in battery life after feeling the liberation that the Moto X Play's battery life provides coming from the original Nexus 5.

I'm really liking the Moto X Play though so I'm more than happy to stick with it into 2016 if needs be.

Ugly looking phone, I just might downgrade to a Moto G 3rd gen, keep my Nexus 5 or try and get a Moto X Play.

Hideous looking phone, moto x here I come next week
Really? It's not bad IMO. It's plain looking to be honest (esp the front renders), but how many more designs for phones can you have before you run out of designs? At a certain point we're just redesigning to look sexy for the sake of looking cool.

I do agree the Moto X especially with Moto Maker will look better, but OIS, fingerprint reader are probably going to be the difference maker here. If Google can show me the camera and battery are just as good or close enough, I'll take the Nexus.
