Youtube ads- I'm talking the 30sec ones you can't skip

how many videos have you gone to watch recently (past 6 months?) and just say "FUCK IT" because of the stupid ad attatched?

if it has that "Skip this ad" after 5 seconds, it MIGHT have a chance... but even those get X'd out by me a lot.

even more annoying, is trying to watch a commercial on youtube, but you have to watch a commercial first.

i know, there are ad blockers, but im not always on my personal computer. it just seems like these ads are getting way out of hand... some sites have 60 second ads you cant skip!

it feels like im watching a LOT less video these days and more and more finding myself reading the articles instead...

I hate when you go to news sites, like cnn or whatever, and click on a news article, only to get a video of it, and the video has some unskippable commercial. Yeah, sure fire way to guarantee I'm not going to see your news article.

I've never seen a YouTube ad. I'm not on foreign computers often, but if I were I keep a small thumb drive in my wallet so I can boot to TinyCore, or run Windows portable apps. That gives me an environment I'm comfortable with, and the tools I use on my home machine.

what? google is around BECAUSE of non-invasive text advertising. they practically invented it! they made bajillions off it. they dont need these full page FUCK YOU ads. nobody needs them, and the more i just X out of them the more statistics that will show they dont work.

They don't really give a flying flip whether you see the news article. They care about whether you see the commercial. News shows and sites are designed to sell commercials, not to educate you.

It doesn't take much of a drive. I'm using an old 256mb Kingston I got at Five Below. It wasn't a good deal considering the capacity, but the physical size works great for my use. Of course you can get huge drives that fit in the space of your pinky nail, but it isn't necessary to get the essentials.

This. I don't expect Google/Youtube to host all these videos for free. I don't see why waiting five seconds and then clicking on the skip option is such a big issue to some people. And if it is an ad that I can't skip? I usually go take a piss, grab a soda, switch to one of my other tabs, etc. and watch when the video is ready.

I watch the ad's because it supports the people who make the videos. I currently generate revenue from YT ads so if I like their content I disable my adblocker and watch their ads.
