YouTube to roll out six-second ads that you can't skip

It especially sucks when you are just clicking a vid to see what it's about, maybe the thumbnail or title grabbed you but you don't want to watch even a 10 second ad to realize within 5 seconds of the video that it's not what you thought or wanted to see any further.

Yeah at very least they should not have commercials for videos that are under a minute, or something.

What's very hilarious is when you go to watch an actual commercial on Youtube (like for nostalgia, or because it's funny) and you have to watch a commercial before watching the actual commercial. Like, really?

As a sidenote, i noticed while browsing on local news sites it is possible to deliver ads that are non intrusive and not blocked by adblock. But these are simple static ads with a click for more button. And these ads are targeting me because they show ads to items that i have been looking for in several web shops, searching through my already stored cookies . So it is possible to deliver non intrusive ads. :thumbsup:

Just looked and its $9.99 but unavailable in Germany. Not that I'd pay that.

I thought it was $10 too... They had a free month or two late last year, I remember my YouTube ad revenue taking a dip.


In related news, I now remember why I removed Huffington Post from my favorites bar... Effing auto-play, max volume videos. Even worse, they now appear to have auto-play, max volume videos with NO CONTROLS. I can't find a way to pause some ads or lower the volume below deafening.

I refuse to pay extra for fast mobile bandwidth so it is impossible to use streaming video when I am not at home.
