pizza thread.... I'm all over this one!
1. Food poisoning from bacteria in the pizza? Was that the *only* thing you ate all day to be able to make that statement, or are you assuming it was the pizza. Personally, I think that pizza is generally heated to a high enough temperature long enough to kill bacteria, but I'm not 100% certain.
2. Yes, local pizza places often have much better pizzas. When my family visits other places on vacation, we usually find a non-chain pizza place that has a lot of customers (cars out front)... usually this is a good indication of a good food/price ratio. And, usually the pizza is better than the chains.
3. I work part time in a pizza shop. I can't believe the number of restaurants that only offer their employees a percent discount on their food while working. Especially pizza places. The cost of the ingredients are low, and the cost of labor is born by the worker who has to make that extra pizza while working. For us, free food while working, and generous discount when not working (at cost).
Fortunately, I work at a pizza shop where people don't seem to ever get sick of our product. We have some customers who eat more than 7 meals a week there! I haven't gotten sick of it either
No, that's not a beer gut... it's a pizza/wing/sub gut.
