I've got my Z-680 speakers plugged into onboard on my P5B. Trouble is, surround sound (analog 6-channel direct) is borked.
In speaker test (when it cycles the sound around all speakers and the sub) only the front left and front right speakers and the sub emit noise. The others are silent when it's thier turn. In CSS' sound test, I see the words "ERROR" by the front left, front right, rear left, and center, but NOT the rear right and sub for some reason. When CSS plays noises from the speakers I hear front left, center, and front right correctly, but rear right and rear left play from the front left and front right speakers respectively (and it sounds quiet and distant). Sub appears to work in this case as well.
If I listen to stereo sources (a la an mp3) things sound fine to me. Rear right and left speakers output upmixed audio as they should. If I click "swap sub/center" the sub fails to produce noise during speaker test when it's the center's turn, but the center does produce noice when it is the sub's turn. For some reason, it seems the rear left, rear right, and center channels aren't working (although I though center/sub were on the same, and sub works...).
The cables are all plugged in securely and correctly - believe me, I checked. In Sound and Audio options I have the speaker settings correctly set to 5.1 surround sound.
Any ideas?
Update: I uninstalled/reinstalled audio drivers to no avail. In fact, it seems to have (at least superficially) worsened. On the speaker test page it notes that my sub/center channel and front channel have the "wrong device connected." There seems to be no change in the actual problem however.
