It can't be much longer

Linky.

Update:

He is a review at extremetech. Very postive response it seems.

Well, the wait is over, and the 5.1 Z-680s are here, and they are a winner. Leveraging the same driver design that's found in the Z-560s, the Z-680s add a larger subwoofer, a bigger amplifier, and a Dolby Digital/ProLogic II/DTS decoder. These are some of the most impressive PC speakers we've ever heard.

review.

Klipsch's ProMedia's are slighty cheaper than these

The Klipsch's doesn't come with a Dolby Digital/DTS decoder. If you add one, its an extra $170. LINK.

I want to see a comparison between these and the Klipsch 5.1s with the Dolby Digital/DTS decoder.

Woop! I'm excited about these... Looks like entering the market after Creative and Klipsch gave them some time to work out what features people wanted.

Damn, $170 for a decoder? Are they on crack? I can buy a whole 100Wx5 receiver for less than that.

Wow how misleading:

"Feel earth-shaking bass with 450 watts RMS of thunderous power" When the subwofer is actually only getting 185w rms.
"The Logitech Z-680 gives you THX-certified theater quality digital sound" but it is THX "multimedia" certified so as not to get it confused with home theater THX certifications.

I'd like some real specs:

How deep does the subwoofer extend and how loud
How loud do these get before compression
What's the frequency response
Is it possible for the subwoofer to be corner loaded
What's the sensitivity of the speakers

Anways it gives the Klipsch Promedias some competition and I do wish to hear them.

Way off base. Ordered mine from mwave for $295 and CDW has them for $308.

Cheapest Klipsch 5.1 price I could find WITHOUT decoder was $344.

That's easily the most jaded review I've ever read...
Giving it the title "The best 5.1 speaker system ever" is a) Bollocks and b) Should be the conclusion if anything, not the title...
There's also very little technical information about the speakers. Also, 450W out of a box that size? Yeah...

Anyhoo... I'm sure they sound good but it's an annoyingly biased review based more on marketing hype than objective research.

Um

Satellites Power Output = 265 watts RMS (53w + 53w + 53w + 53w + 53w)+ 185 = 450

I wonder if that Dolby Digital/DTS decoder thingy can be disabled so you can pass your eax or other 3d sounds through it? What if your card already handles 5.1 and that thing ruins it? Can't you just buy the speakers?
Can you adjust the center speaker so it aims down? I don't see the point of this system if you need to put the speaker on top of your monitor.

i wish they would go 2-way with the speakers .... 1-way and home theatre just doesn't make sense.

btw I have 2 z560's so im not taking out my arse.

also bigger sub!!!!! the overpowering bass was my biggest complaint, this should solve it.... not.

2-way makes a huge difference to the sound, but it would also make the system cost sonsiderably more.
I'm currently using the DTT-3500 sub and amp with 5 small bookshelf speakers which are two-way. The sound kicks the butt of the little satellites that come in the package as you would expect, but it's still small enough to fit my (tiny) room.

I just picked up the Klipsch 5.1's a couple weeks ago, and so far I'm unhappy with the musical sound quality. I've played with the equalizer in Winamp to no avail. It just sounds muddy to me.

My mom dropped something on the sub, so now there's a deep scratch on the surface and I can't return them. Thanks, mom.
