Just wondering which one out of these two you would recommend: Z77 Asus Sabertooth vs AsRock Z77 Professional. It will be used in conjunction with an i5 3570K and a GTX 670. I will be overclocking the CPU slightly but nothing extreme. Any other suggestions, I'm all ears.

Thanks in advance.

One downside of the Sabertooth is the small optional fans. Fan noise doesn't typically bother me at all, but 30mm fans are loud and shrill is the spin up.

So far my Sabertooth works fine, but I have only OC'ed my 3770k to 4.4Ghz as it appears to be quite the lemon.

Don't know if you saw it, but there's a Professional review done here now. It's the first one under the Motherboards category. Pretty thorough and answered my questions about the board.

FWIW, after reading that review I decided to go Extreme4 or Extreme6. In your pairing, I would def go with the the Sabertooth.

I went Sabertooth and 3570K and love it. Look at both with the features you need and want in mind and go from there. I have never had a problem with any Asus product in my life and reliability is very important to me FYI.

I have a Sabertooth Z77 and a GIGABYTE GA-Z77X-UD5H. First, I can't hear the fans on the Armor at all. Second.... I'm not a fan of ASRock so I would recommend the GA-Z77X-UD5H over both of them However, between the two you listed I would still go Sabertooth.

I'm also stuck at 44x on my Sabertooth with the 3770k but I'm easily able to get to 47x on the UD5H.

So you can hear the "optional fans" over you case fans? You must have some golden ears, my new build using this board still has the side panels off the case (Fractal R3) and I can not hear them. Although you may perceive a very very slight "hum" when the computer is off as per BOIS they are made to run for a selectable time period to remove any heat from the components. This too is selectable as you can turn if off altogether, so when the computer is off they are off also. I assume once I place the side case panels in place even the hum will be unnoticeable.

I love my Asrock Z77 pro. No problems whatsoever.

Was running the Extreme 6 previously for over a year with no issues as well. Never powered down the machine other than updates.

I have an ASRock Extreme 6 and its a great board.

The one thing I'm going to bring up is if you want good fan control from the motherboard, have a fan controller or don't care if the fans are loud?

The reason I ask is that the Asus board is going to give you good case fan control. The only part you need to pay attention to is that the CPU headers will only work with PWM fans.

To me that's the only weak part of the ASRock board... the fan control. (You can get there with time spent in their software. Its just more involved in my opinion than Asus).

For my second Z77 system I was looking at the sabertooth myself, but went with the Maximus V Gene instead (I have a black/red based build lol..) *edited for a bit of clarity*
