okay so i am on a p67 extreme4 from asrock right now
it's fine

however i want a z77 micro atx board.

Reason I want z77 is because of trim support and RAID 0 SSD
I am using RAID 0 on ssds but apparently RAID 0 is not supported

i have a 2600k

I want to overclock too...
I think this is the best choice

I liked the asrock boards but I found out they throttle cpu overclocking, so dumb.

Now does Raid 0 trim work with an older 2600k cpu?

Also what board other than the above would you guys recommend?

I want micro atx because I might swap cases eventually and having the ability for a small case is what I want.

thx gaise

also multiple raid partitions are allowed right? Like on the two 6gb/s port, I want raid 0 for my vertex 3's
and then on the 3gb/s raid 0 for my 2x500gb mechanical drives

i do this on my p67 board

information on this is so hard to find

Yes 2600K will work fine.

RAID works the same as P67.

RAID0 SSDs with Trim has nothing to do with your CPU. See this thread.

That Gigabyte board is fine. What is your budget and do you need anything else beyond what you've already mentioned?

i will be using SLI
with my 460s

I doubt my thermalright ultra 120 extreme will fit, any suggestions?

also does anyone know how overclocking compares to the gigabyte? http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813131833

the free 8 gigs of ram is tempting

also the asus has an 8 pin pci express power connector, which is a sign it's probably better for ocing.

The CPU cooler might fit okay. You just have to try it.

For SLI, be very careful choosing the mATX motherboard. The reason is that some of them (such as the Gigabyte you linked) requires the use of slots 1 and 4 for SLI, not 1 and 3. This means most mATX cases won't be able to support that board with your two cards in SLI, unless you replace the cooler of the bottom card with a single slot waterblock and go liquid cooling. There are some exceptions such as the In Win Dragon Slayer which has 5 slots, or of course any ATX case (but then why go mATX for motherboard?).

The Asus board has the proper 1-3 slot spacing for SLI. Actually, out of all the currently available mATX Z77 motherboards that support SLI on Newegg, both Gigabyte boards suffer from the lousy spacing, while all others (both ASRock, both Asus and the sole MSI) have the better 1-3 spacing.

here, and anandtech confirmed it from the x79 micro atx of theirs as well

now i don't know if still does it with that latest bios update. I sent them an email, but I am feeling impatient.
Dat feel

also i like the fact that the last slot is pci express is for the 2nd gpu. Reason being is because I plan to put this in a mid size tower for now.
Micro atx motherboards are just a lot nicer to work with imo.

If I get a micro atx case I won't be doing SLI.

CPU as long as it is an 1155 socket CPU should work in any Ivy Bridge motherboard. You will need an Ivy Bridge motherboard to get RAID0 working with TRIM.
