zalman 7000a - will it fit? If not any suggestions?

First off the zalman site dosen't exactly mention the board (they list an "ak35n ultra" which depends on the power supply) which could possibly be a typo.

I'm using an antec 3700 with the stock sl350 power supply, shuttle an35n ultra with a barton 2500+ using the retail fan. Obviously not enough cooling since at 11x185 temps are between 51-59c under load depending on ambient temp, and 11x200 it is unstable.

I'm not totally sure if I have enough room for it to fit or not, but if it dosen't, what else would be a good choice within similar price range? Quiet fans preferred, and if you mention a thermalright - include a fan to go with it.

As I recall the Zalman HS requires a min of 55mm from the center of the cpu socket to fit. I would start by checking the distance from the ceter of the socket on your mb to the PS. If you have more than 55mm you should be OK in that area. As far as it fitting on the an35n I'm not sure maybe someone else can address that.

If for some reason you can't use the Zalman (I hope you can, I have one on my P4 system and they are great), look at the Thermaltake Volcano 12. I use one on a XP2500 and it works very well.

It should fit. The CPU socket isn't totally at the edge of the board and there is a bit of a gap between the top of the board and the power supply, almost an inch.

I've got about 1.5 inches from the supply to the current stock heatsink, and almost 3 inches to the approx center. I was planning on ordering just a more urgent "issue" has come up.

Put a CD over the center of your current heatsink, if it doesn't appear to interfere then you should be fine, just make sure your motherboard has the four heatsink mounting holes around the socket.

I won't be buying the heatsink right away though, when I went to look inside, something happened, and my 160gb drive started clicking away, so first things first, I need to see what was lost.
