478 CPUs @ Newegg
Intel Pentium 4/ 3.0E ( Prescott ) 800MHz FSB, 1MB L2 Cache - OEM $179
Intel Pentium 4/ 3.0C ( Northwood ) 800MHz FSB, 512K Cache - OEM $209
The $30 price difference, larger cache, and stories I've read about the newer Prescotts being much improved over the originally reviewed batches have me leaning towards a 3.0E.
But I need a quiet cooler. The most popular quiet-heatsink/fan option seems to be the Zalman 7000B, but will this be enough for the Prescott? Does the 7000B cool better or worse than the stock Intel 3.0E combo?
