Sure a case with good ventilation and airflow is essential.
That may be true for AMD cpus..Keeping a P4 Prescott's or extreme processors cool s a different issue specially when they are at full/medium load 24/7..
Water or TEC would be needed.

Again, decent numbers, but still within 2C of the best air-cooled CPU cooler on the market.

Actually I also read that review and the russian review in there entirety theres just one small problem.....

I guess its not that big of a problem....

well maybe not that big..just lets say a teeny tiny problem...

We will need to wait and see what an americasn company has to say in there reviews!

Both these reviews were over a week or 2 ago.....

To be perfectly honest this last belgium review smacked of already having there minds made up before hand!

The Russian review would have been a good review had they told what the test equipment was they were using and the parameters!!!

Anyways, I `m getting one just for the heck of it anyways!!

hehee...Zalman all the way!!

the xp-120 is a better preformer abroad and will be a better preformer here as well. I didn't get the impression at all that they were biased towards the thermalright products in advance. But if they were, it would be understandable due to the fact that they are the best preforming products on the market. With all the hype surrounding this product I expect great results, not just on par (or less) with what has already been out for awhile. But in the end air cooling is only so efficient. With that being said, sharka computers has listed on there website that pre-orders should start shipping as early as the 19th of this month.

It doesn't matter if it "fits more cpus". What matters is the cost, Price/performance ratio. As Cronic stated, the XP-120 (& now the Si-120) are just better solutions for the price. $44 verse $75 is a major difference cost for the small percentage gain you would receive from the Zalman.

40% greater in cost than the ThermalRight 120 series. But, yet, less than 9% greater in performance? That doesn't sound like anything ground breaking and worth the price that Zalman is asking for it.

Initially, I was going to per-order 2 for my Dual Opteron last month. But, once I seen the results and the cost for 2 ($150 for air cooling?). I quickly canceled that idea.

Again we get into price!!!

Im sorry but you cannot price things so that the cheapskates of the world can afford them or eventually you will go out of buisness!!!

Also those 2 supposed reviews as i stated earlier we will really need to just wait until a reputable site such as this one gets to do a total review of the product!!!

Dude, there's a difference between being a cheapskate and being an intelligent buyer. 75 dollars compared to ~50 dollars for a comparable (or, dare I say it, better product like the xp-120) is an easy choice. If you want to spend an unnecessary amount of money for something just because it's from a manufacturer that you like and not because it is the best product then that's your perogative, but the rest of us are going to weigh the pros and cons of all of our choices before we buy. On the other hand, I really like Zalman too, and I want this cooler to be a totally awesome performer so that I can justify going out and buying one myself. I agree that we'll have to wait for some more, ahem, reliable (American) reviews before any of us can pass judgement. Speaking of which, has Zalman announced an official release date yet?

4 different sites. 4 different reviews. 3 of the 4 sites mirroring each other results?

I find it quite hard to believe that you would think these sites aren't trustworthy of results. Using logic, it's not that hard to see that it's an underperformer of products that are 12 months old on the market already.

Actually the 3 sites that mirrorewd each other...were not known for there scientific reviews....
I literally read the russian one in its original language.....what I will tell you they tried to do an honest evaluation...yet the other 2 sites I wouldnt trust there reviews at all!!

The one that did say nice things about the new Zalman cooler was a top notch reviewing site!!

Yes it is possible for 3 sites that mirrored each other to all be wrong!!

So lets wait and see what thr american sites such as this site and other top notch sites say about the new zalman!!

also a side note-- weren`t you the dude on the "off topic forum" who said Bush hated black people? Attempting to bring the race card into this New orleans tragedie??
hmmmmm

I don't post in the Off topic forum. I haven't posted not once this year in there IIRC. I posted a year or 2 ago. I don't go there at all. If you can provide a link to your off topic claim, I'd like to see it via PM.

Why wait for a review? Get a physics book and read-up on heat-transfer n thermodynamics. Actual in-case performance should be within 2C of the Zalman 7700Cu. Only a fool would worry about 2 to 3C delta at the CPU level.

As for the individual who thinks that US reviewers are more reliable, it's best to keep quiet when you're the village's idiot.

I had high hopes for the Zalman, I am sure some better reviews will come out?
Nevertheless, the Thermalright products are hard to beat. I also think that the Thermaltake BIG Typhoon or the Thermalright xp-90 are the best buys right now.

Furballi are you a physics student?
If so then you know that physics is more than just a book!
There are variables that are not taken into consideration and other factors beyond our control.
You also seem to be a bright person thus you know that from one person to another the same might not hold true again based on those variables.

If you would like we can go into the physics of the matter.....but to make such a blanket statements as you have made makes me wonder who the village idiot really is......hhmmmmm
