Zalman Resterator 1 Question

I've recently purchased a Zalman Resterator 1 Plus and plan to put it to work in my current system (P4 3.06Ghz Northwood, 1.5Ghz Corsair TwinX RAM, 6600GT, etc).



1. Looking at future upgrade possibilities, what is the fastest processor that will work effectively when using a Zalman Resterator 1 Plus?

2. What sort of Overclock should I aim for with my current spec when using the Resterator 1???

reserator will probably be good for some of the later P4's and very probably intels next gen....since they are leaving the netburst architecture to die in the sintering heat of the prescott core.

with a prescott core i probably wouldnt attempt an overclock with a reserator, i dont think its that powerful. its great if you want silence, but its not really a good aide for overclocking.

theres a test using it on a Athlon 64.......a good chunky copper acitve HSF is better at cooling

actually looking at that, im not sure it could handle a prescott at stock speeds lol!

personally speaking of course...
You need to address your questions towards those who own the reserator 1....
Or call Zalman and ask them...or e-mail the company.

In my opinion people will say this or that.....without giving you any real reason why you can`t do anything.

I would tell you the reserator 1 is a silent water unit....
To achieve that silence you have iether no fans or very low rpm fans.
None of which are good fer over clocking.
But excellent for any and all CPU`s including what will be coming out in the future.
Most companies are really good about future proofing there stuff when it comes to complete water cooling units.

The Reserator`s main selling point is silence!
Most silent water cooling riggs are silent due to iether lack of a fan or a low rpm fan.

The Reserator 1 will be able to cool anything that is out already or that will be coming out.
Note-- the reserator 1 was never intended to be used for over clocking. It is suppose to be silent.

Can we say you have no clue other than you opinion? based on what fatcs? Maybe based on a crystal ball?

#1--- The researator 1 is future proof.
#2--- IMO it was not meant for over clocking.

I have a P4 Northwood which I believe runs much cooler that the Prescott core. My motherboard doesn't support Prescott CPUs so when I upgrade I will be looking at AMD S939 or maybe Intel's future Dual core (assuming I can buy a compatible CPU block!!!)

So for now I'm stuck with my P4 3.0Ghz Northwood.... Surely if this CAN cool a Prescott then I should be able to get a little extra from my Northwood chip? What do you reckon???

hows all the above rubbish? did i not say the reserator is not really for overclocking, and that its great for silence?

did i not say that it will be fine for next gen? since i sincerely hope future CPUs are not localised inferno's?

you just told me what i said is rubbish, then proceeded to say exactly the same only shorter and not as specific to intel.

i have a friend with a reserator, and its perfectly silent........but cools roughly the same as his previous heatsink, more importantly the reserator does not cool the components round the cpu socket like alot of good air coolers do

Northwoods run very cool, and you will have some overclocking head room if u use the Reserator 1, unless you have a really hot running video card and northbridge. The block will work with the Northwoods, and I hope you have a good time with it.
