We've been over this before but I don't think you've actually been listening, so we can do it again:
"Those values are real. They are worthy of respect." Those values are not real. If they were real, they would be worthy of respect, but they are not real.
A lot has happened since Haidt published that has exposed conservatives for the lying, deceitful garbage that they are to their core. What Haidt showed is that conservatives are willing to claim they care about a larger number of "values," not that they actually care about them. They care about them when it is convenient, and immediately stop caring about them when caring becomes inconvenient. That is not caring. That is lying and manipulation.
Just one of thousands of examples: Conservatives cared about the economy under Jimmy Carter. They did not care that he was a moral man. Conservatives cared about family values when Bill Clinton was painting Monica Lewinsky's dress. They cared when he smoked cigars that she stowed in her humidor. Sexual deviancy mattered more than the strong economy we enjoyed under Clinton, but the opposite was true for Carter. Then Trump comes along. Surprise, sexual deviancy is no longer an issue, AT ALL. What matters is how good Trump is for the economy. Conservatives tell Haidt they care about the economy and they care about sexual deviants. +2 points for conservatives per Haidt. They've shown since then that they care about neither when applied to their team. They only "care" when it is a useful hammer to hit a Democrat. That isn't caring about an issue. It is only caring about hurting "the other."
So now that we can observe that the values are not real, we can conclude that they are also not worthy of respect.
You seem to have a lot of support for your opinion but I think it is misplaced. Here are the five original areas of moral concern theorized:
1 Care 2 Fairness (an individualizing cluster)
3,Loyalty 4 Authority 5 Sanctity (a group-focused binding cluster)
Haidt proposed a 6th Liberty vs Oppression
Additional suggestions include Honor/Qeirat as well as Efficiency/waste, Ownership/theft, and Honesty/deception.
You fudge with logic when you say these values are not real and do not deserve respect when what you are saying is that conservatives don't practice them and any claims or reference to them should be dismissed as Hypocrisy. But the hypocrisy does not make those values unreal, it just means that conservatives say they they have real values they don't practice unless it is convenient. But that's exactly how conservatives are at least more so than liberal who are in my opinion often hypocrites too. As I said, the values are real but the practice is faulty because of a lack of honest self awareness.
But the whole idea of this moral theory is that it is based of evolution and how to manage conflict within a group and with others outside.
Humans have a great capacity for deception, deceiving others as well as themselves so it isn't always safe just to flat out trust people. This increases in group survival but inbreeding with destroy a group owing to the pairing on the chromosome of recessive fatal genes. Acquiring outside genetic material is the job of liberals, deal makers who know how to negotiate win wins because they value equality and fairness more that the other top three or more moral concerns. If values have roots that relate to survival of the fittest those values that promote that are very real. It's people who say they value them but have no idea how to do so or that they are not equipped to do so that you run into problems if those folk go into denial.
Conservatives have a larger range of values then respond to but that does not imply they have the wisdom to understand them or execute them properly. You are morally outraged they claim virtue and act like shits. What I am saying is why they do it. The reason in my opinion is that they more than liberals have been humiliated by shame, threatened with damnation for the transgressions of sin. You coming along and announcing with profound tact that they are fucking worthless scum just triggers their Stockholm Syndrome condition. You are the scum because you ridicule authority, revel in impurity, and reject the word of God etc. You get all wound up with frustration you should have had the sense to realize was inevitable. Why do you curse at sleeping machines, robots walking around in a dream. Do they remind you of somebody. I see the other side of there faces and it you and me that I see. Don't tell me they aren't Gods. Didn't you watch the video I linked?
