Always was the god damndest thing to call 911 for paramedics and a fucking ladder truck shows up with like 6 guys.
"But we might need all this random equipment to help grandma get down the stairs", as if they never heard of a) a rapid response, SUV-type vehicle to carry said equipment, or b) smaller trucks like those seen in Europe and east Asia that carry just as much equipment. It's absolutely maddening.

Even more insane is Massachusetts, where there are a billion little fiefdoms, I mean municpal governments, around Boston that all have their own, full-fledged emergency services. We live in such a rich country that just pisses money away in some of the stupidest ways.

It's such a stupid policy to require that. There's no reason an orderly couldn't have rolled you over in a wheelchair if they didn't want you walking due to liability etc.

Kinda fits the general style of our healthcare system.

In fairness to the orderly, I don't think their employment policy allowed them to roll you outside of their facilities. It's just in case something happens. Because if it happened outside their facilities, the healthcare facility's liability insurance probably wouldn't cover it.

Honestly, Out of everthing that was said, both by Trump and Harris, the fact that she baited him so easily, is the most important and dangerious thing that every American should take from this debate. She highlighted one of the most dangrious character flaws that any President could ever have. If she can continuously manipulate him so easily in 90 minutes, it shows, that he can be, and will be manipulated by our enemies, both domestic and foreign. That character flaw alone should make every American, regardless of party, realize that he can never be President again.
Yes you’re talking about the voters. But this is why butt kissers like Miller and other ghouls stick with him. So easy to manipulate to do what they want him to do.

Cause republicans are for free markets. That's why the republicans say that government can't negotiate prices like you and I, and these companies can freely loot the government's coffers.

Look at the hissy fit republicans threw over medicare drug price negotiations. They think it's a travesty democrats are able to lower the cost of providing life saving drugs. Unbelievable.

The medical/pharmaceutical industry really makes my blood boil. The prices of these drugs are through the roof. My mother pays over $200 per month just for her meds, as we don't have insurance. She'd die if she went a day without her beds.

Imagine a retiree who didn't retire with a pension, has barely any savings, and who has to on rely on old age supplemental income, with ever rising inflation, food prices, rents etc. It's crazy just trying to survive with the very basic needs, just enough to get one meal per day.

This video is urbanist propaganda (my favorite kind ATM), but it is an interesting conversation about fire trucks and their usage in the US.

Recently I went to the pharmacy and overheard someone getting quoted $739 for their meds.

Like what the actual fuck?

And btw I don't know what state you live in but you can try getting insurance through the ACA November 1st.

I live in Quebec, Canada. My mother receives income from the government called the Old Age Security act, as well as a small amount from the government of Quebec. We do have free Medicare paid by taxpayers. The quality of service depends on your needs. Recently we had to wait about a month to see a Cardiologist, and 2 weeks for her first cataract surgery.

Jesus, no Canadian health care for me then. I want a health system where you have to weight at least a hundred years to be pronounced dead.

Breaking after-debate news, caused entirely by Trump's debate appearance:
The mayor of Springfield, Ohio, said a bomb threat Thursday that led to the evacuation of City Hall and numerous buildings “used hateful language towards immigrants and Haitians in our community.”

More background from the debate for those that missed it earlier:
- Trump's ranted out that Haitian immigrants were eating cats, eating dogs, eating your pets in Springfield Missouri.
- ABC's David Muir fact checked this live during the debate that this was a lie. Trump attacked Muir saying it was true, Muir then explained ABC had even contacted the city mayor of Springfield and had confirmed there was no such incident, it was a lie. (Trump then screamed out that he saw it on "the Television" so it must be true!)
- Trump went home after the debate and re-posted further repeats of this lie across his social media

- Fast forward to today: Racist hate spewing caller calls in bomb threat to Springfield City Hall
But but some people here claim racism is both sides.

Wrong, racism is primarily a white Republican problem

That might be a little bit exaggerated, but it is pretty insane. In the U.S. ambulance companies have been specifically set up to be out-of-network, so citizens get slapped with these awful bills.

Here, we pay ~$100 on our bi-monthly city utility bills for ambulance service, another 9-1-1 emergency services fee on our property taxes…thwn, if you actually use the ambulance service, a ride to the closest hospital…about 25 miles…gets you a bill of $2000-$3000.

Remember in the debate Trump claimed he is the champion of IVF? Chuck Schumer will bring up the bill again that protects the right to IVF nationally. Does this mean Trump will call his peeps like he did for the immigration bill and tell them to vote for it?

It’s sad seeing many Canadians willing to vote for him if it was between him or Trudeau.
The only thing stupider than a MAGA Trumper, is a Canadian MAGA Trumper.

I had an old friend that I hung out with all through high school/college years. He was never the smartest lad, but we got along reasonably well (we were both involved in the same evangelical church at the time). Over the years we lost touch, but he found me on Facebook around 2017. It soon became pretty obvious that, while I had found enlightenment and lost the need for an imaginary friend, he had gone full Jesus and was all aboard the trump train.

At first, his sharing of words of wisdom from the likes of Kenneth Copeland, Kat Kerr, and friends was good for laughs, but it got sad quickly. All the ridiculous prophesies about Trump being "anointed by God" and an "imperfect vessel for God's power" was just so nauseating after a while. The utter gullibility and stupidity of it all, from someone I once respected.

I still remember him posting a prayer on election night, that no matter who won, democrat or republican, that God's will be done. So calm and respectful--until the count began to progress and it became more apparent that his guy wasn't going to win. When the election was finally called for Joe on Saturday around noon, he was the first to post a "NOT MY PRESIDENT!" meme. I felt like replying "Of course he's not your president - Trudeau is!" (as a good rural conservative believer he hates Trudeau too), but I just bit my tongue. Not even worth talking to him anymore, he's too far gone. He rarely posts any more. I don't know if somebody had a talk to him about how much he was embarrassing himself or if he just lost interest. However he did make a post a few months ago about how he has given up on the biased mainstream media, and gets most of his news from Rumble now. That's just fucking great.

I was hooked watching those live streamers at that ridiculous Canadian trucker city takeover--and yeah, utter ignorance and stupidity is far from an American thing. Maybe it oozed north over the border or whatever.

But the issue is linked. Rumours at the time for the freedom convoy, the funding did come from the US. But revelations today about RT gave the most coverage of the freedom convoy of all foreign media. And then RT funded Canadian couples paying American social influencers for Russian misinformation.

It's easier to understand if you stop thinking of it as a trick, and just realize his supporters just agree with him. They want suffering (of someone else), they want less people (of those who don't look like them), they want more of what everyone else has. They're envious, sad little balls of hatred, each and every one.
Now we know the sort of society Reagan's Trickledown has wrought after a generation.
People who have less and are torn down by predatory capitalism, will always turn to hatred. Thus Democracy falls to fascism.
