That Trump keeps ratcheting up his racist diatribes and fear evoking rhetoric post-debate makes me wonder if there is a tipping point, an event horizon where even his own nutjob fruitie-tooties will get tired and bored of the same monotonous broken record lies and conspiracies being endlessly repeated ad nauseum, with the casual half-hearted MAGAts being the first ones to poke a hole in the dam.
So I posted this in the Loomer thread because it made sense there. But it goes along with the current discussion.
Will undecided voters/independents pay attention to the fact that Trump is hanging out with perhaps one of the nuttiest “popular” figures on the far-right? Who has advocated for imprisoning and broadcasting the execution Democrats; for the crime of… being a Democrat. For toasting a neo-nazi and saying that they’re actively engaged in a hostile takeover of the Republican Party. Who even Marjorie Taylor Frickin Greene is beefing with!
I’d have to think it will play some part. That supposedly centrist-types would be able to actually look critically and objectively at the Trump campaign, their tone, their plans, and the people that Trump associates with and are in his inner-circle, and be like “yeah no way I’m for that”. But I am certainly not confident about that. Because overall on a whole this election wouldn’t even be close.
The most important question involved here isn't about trying to somehow convert anyone in the Trump base of anything really.
He could literally shoot someone on 5th Avenue and his base will say it wasn't real or the person shot had it coming. They will come to his defense in every conceivable way.
It's about the middle 10% of the voter base that swings either way. And particularly in PA, MI, and WI. They're the ones that truly matter (unfortunately).
I think enough can be convinced if Harris and Walz do this (in addition to the quote above that maybe might have some sway on its own):
-Constantly talk about how Trumps' economic plan has been evaluated by reputable sources, to increase inflation, lower GDP growth, and increase unemployment.
-Constantly bring up the fact that his own administrative officials have refused to endorse him and many have outright come out against him saying he is unfit to be elected. Can include Cheney and Kinzinger.
-Constantly mention how Trump torpedoed the bipartisan Senate negotiated border bill that would've significantly restricted border crossings. And tie that to the fact that he did it, because he wanted an issue to run on during the Election.
-And obviously be more detailed in her own plans for the economy and immigration.
Add all of this up, it should be enough. But just the fact that there is constant bullsh that comes out of Trump and Vance and their ecosystem, it really shouldn't be close.
