Is it bad that I have five games for my 3DS XL, which isn't even here yet? :$ Toys'R'Us had this deal yesterday where if you bought some lame 3DS or Wii game (Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles or Angry Birds: Star Wars), you could get certain 3DS or Wii games for free -- regardless of price difference! Normally, the free games are absolute junk with these sort of deals, but not this time! The free games included titles such as Link Between Worlds, Super Mario 3D, Pokemon X, Pokemon Y, New Super Mario Bros 2, and Mario Kart 7. I already have the first two, so I got the latter two.

Also, Best Buy had Fire Emblem on sale for $15 last night. Score!

Win, I'm playing through fire emblem right now, my first 3ds game I've actually picked up.

Pretty good, although the the original one for GBA is still my favorite.

Fire Emblem is still on sale. I just picked up the classic Mario 64 DS for that same $14.99 myself. Always liked that game.

I don't like Fire Emblem from the gameplay videos, but if you like a more classic RPG style combat, the DS game Golden Sun Dark Dawn was decent.

Relatively, yes. I have had to use fairies on some bosses and I have died several times. Not sure how far you are? I think on a 2nd play through if I concentrated, I could probably beat it without dying. Initially in lo-rule or up near the tower, the enemies can kick your tail quick.

I had finished one dungeon in Lorule when I said that (the thief's hideout/village dungeon). When I came back to play later, I got my ass whooped by regular enemies on the world map (didn't realize they were taking 2-3 hearts with one attack each). I somehow completely missed this to and from that first dungeon. Also finding that the sand temple dungeon was harder to get to than the ones before, so I might have to eat my words.

Damn it I missed it. Would have totally picked up Ninja Turtles and Mario Kart for 3DS for $30.

Golden Sun Dark Dawn- I found it to be bad, it can't even hold a candle to Golden Sun II: The Lost Age, for GBA.

OK I beat it last night at 100%. I was able to forgo looking anything up online, but I did have to use the goggles twice.

The last dungeon was easy? Maybe because I played the treacherous tower right before it.

I lost my original DS and was thinking of picking up one of the 3DS XL bundles. Are the game systems backwards compatible?

I think they play fine but the aspect ratio may be off, I haven't tried it. I heard in this thread you can hold a button when it's launching to play it in the original res/AR, and for the XL it will play it in basically the same size as the DS screen was.

I picked up one of the oldest DS games (Mario 64) and it plays fine to me. It's when I tried SNES ports that they look pretty bad... you need to do the native res option (hold start & select when starting the game).

Picked up my Zelda 3DS at lunch today. I will have to say the large size is welcomed and I'm very happy with the game and 3D capabilities. Maybe I nostalgic, but this is the Zelda I wanted to see for many years. Not a huge fan of the 3D ones.

This zelda is perfect, best since TOOT. I didn't appreciate TOOT until after I beat it, I totally missed this style of zelda the whole time.

There is hero mode but I wish the normal adventure was a little bit harder overall and more difficult to find secrets.

It's how they should have made them from the beginning imo. I just wish they allowed for longer battery life or option.
I plan to hack mine eventually so I can run some emulators as there seems to be a lack of DS and 3DS titles that I find very interesting once I dug into them but the hack methods appear confusing to me atm.

Not to dive too far into it but there are some SD cards you can get that have software on there for these purposes.

Haha, I picked up my first 3DS XL (Pokemon red version) a couple of months ago, and since then, I have purchased another 3DS XL (Zelda version) and over 15 physical games and 3 digital games.

Yeah 3DS took off hard this year. I only started this year with a Fire Emblem edition 3DS and a physical copy of Fire Emblem earlier this year and now I'm sitting on a red and blue Pokemon XL, a Zelda XL, and a Mario/Luigi XL, and like two dozen games.

Most of the games are still sealed. I'd been waiting for the inevitable Zelda XL to be the one I opened to play on, so just been grabbing games I want and squirrelling them away.

Got my Zelda and Mario hardware for $150 each and most of the games I've picked up brand new at $10-15. Kingdom Hearts $10, Paper Mario Sticker Star for $15 earlier this year even. Gotta love those random Best Buy sales with brand new first party titles for $15.
