I don't really care about those lists as a whole to be honest. I thought GTA4 was awful yet that is one of the best games according to there.
I really loved Tony Hawk 2 but I definitely don't think it's top five games of all time either.

The best game ever is obviously Pong. For many many obvious reasons. Any ranking site that doesn't have it listed as #1 is bunk and probably should go out of business for their alternative facts.

My fiancée has never played a Zelda game so I got A Link to the Past on my 3DS so she can experience Zelda perfection before I play this one. Maybe when I'm done she will like Zelda enough that she can play this one too.

reviews for any zelda game are always suspect as nintendo/zeldo homers are worse then anyone else

Exactly. You replace the title with something like " The adventures of Cyrus" and do something like a palette swap with Link and there is no way this game gets 100s across the board in the reviews. It reminds me of the GTA games where every single one gets 95+ reviews no matter what.

I really can't stand the cell shaded super contrast graphics but I will keep from giving it judgement until I play it. Hopefully I can make some time to get to my buddies place and try it out this weekend.

I've even heard some reviewers who reviewed Breath of the Wild and loved it, temper the Metacritic rating by saying "yeah, well Skyward Sword got mostly 10/10's and it was not worthy"

its prob a very good game but reviewers have often not docked zelda games for the same exact things they dock other games for in reviews. incredibly hypocritical

I hated Twilight Princess and that got like a 95/96 on metacritic. But to be fair I didn't make it past 6 or 7 hours because it was still in "tutorial" mode or some shit by that point and just took way too long to get going. I think the most exciting thing I had done by then was go fishing. And even that was lame trying to use the gimmicky ass Wiimote controls to use it as a fishing rod.

But the consensus on this game is that it throws you right into the game and there is none of that really slow stuff at the beginning.

When I look at reviews though I don't look to see if the people say the game is good or bad really, since that's all just opinion anyways, I look for the more objective stuff and go from there. Any RPG I personally would give a 0 because I simply don't like RPG's and I'd never play one and think they all suck lol.

There's obviously a ton out there since literally everybody seems to love it. The issue I might have with the game is that I could see getting tired of doing the same thing over and over again with the shrines and beating up the same enemies over and over. We will see though. I'm super excited for it

Yup I have prime and they shipped it USPS. Maybe it makes it today but would likely be in the afternoon. Its not the end of the world, just annoying and seems like typical Nintendo.

That's not Nintendo's fault at all lol that is Amazon's fault for not using a guaranteed service. If anything, contact Amazon and complain and they will give you credit for the trouble.

I'm honestly happy that we finally have a very good Zelda game.

I was wondering if the new / younger generation of gamers would ever experience their Ocarina of Time. It looks like Breath of the Wild is exactly that, and even possibly more. There's been some other good Zelda games in between, sure. But I truly think that Breath of the Wild is the only one since OoT that we'll be talking about in ten years or more from now. And, who knows, if the Switch ends up being good for Nintendo they might even make another Zelda game for it within the next four years or so, maybe even less; and we'll end up having our new Majora's Mask too. Although I am curious as to how long (and just how in general) they'll 'support' Breath of the Wild with DLCs. It's not a multiplayer game, so... new zones? new dungeons? new items? new characters? a full-fledged expansion pack following the game's ending?

Anyway, even if the 'perfect' scores are ultimately a small or even a large exaggeration I have no doubt that Breath of the Wild is very legitimately a superb and fun game, and I'm happy for Nintendo. I can say is that it was about damn time we had a good Zelda game like that. We "lost" all those years waiting for one on the Wii U, it's here now, perhaps too late (for the Wii U) but at least they bothered making a version for the dying console. Because if they really wanted to, they could have just canceled it for the Wii U and 'forced' us all to get a Switch to play it. At least they weren't that crass.

Well the rumor is Nintendo didnt ship Amazon as many copies they were supposed to. I'm not going to complain, I already got the prime discount.

That's what I heard. On the other hand, the local Gamestop had a huge stack for sale so it may be available at most retail stores.

Ugh, I got my pre-order in literally the minute it was available too, damn. Mine doesn't even say shipped yet.

I just watched an hour or so of gameplay and the game looks extremely boring and very empty. It also seemed to really be lacking in the music department. I'm not really a huge open world game guy to begin with, but thought Zelda would maybe bridge things a little better between rails and open world. Does not appear to be the case. Maybe I'l actually need to play it to get a feel for things and get sucked into the world, but watching the gameplay has definitely convinced me not to rush and buy it just yet.

Graphics in this game are pretty shitty. I've only played on my projector so far but yeah, the graphics definitely scream Wii U port. Framerate dips when you're just walking through brush and shit. I only played for like 30 minutes and really had no clue wtf I was supposed to do. The controls are taking a little to get used to also. I'm hoping to put a few hours into it tonight.

it definitely is very quiet and very little music, which is intentional. I'm also disappointed that there isn't even voice overs for the game for all characters. The very first person you meet just makes grunting sounds while you read what he's saying. Pretty sad for a game in 2017.

Here's a video I took that showed the framerate dipping. I guess it's kind of hard to tell in the video. But it's pretty choppy when attacking the first guy and running around the grass, then when i go to the cliff edge it's a bit better, then it gets bad again when going through the grass again. When I run down the hill again to the next enemy you can see it does get noticeably smoother.

Is that video from the Switch or U? I have the U copy and man the frame rates are horrible, almost nauseating. And it may not be frame rates, but frame pacing as I don't have an actual counter to verify.

The controls are also a little wonky and not arranged how I like, but noticed there are options for jump. I'm trying to charge up my U Pro controller before doing too much more. The tablet is just to cumbersome.

That's switch running on my projector.

And I agree 100% about the controls. It feels very clunky but I think a lot of it is I'm just not used to it at all yet too. But even like switching weapons and stuff on the fly takes a lot of getting used to.
