I'm honestly happy that we finally have a very good Zelda game.
I was wondering if the new / younger generation of gamers would ever experience their Ocarina of Time. It looks like Breath of the Wild is exactly that, and even possibly more. There's been some other good Zelda games in between, sure. But I truly think that Breath of the Wild is the only one since OoT that we'll be talking about in ten years or more from now. And, who knows, if the Switch ends up being good for Nintendo they might even make another Zelda game for it within the next four years or so, maybe even less; and we'll end up having our new Majora's Mask too. Although I am curious as to how long (and just how in general) they'll 'support' Breath of the Wild with DLCs. It's not a multiplayer game, so... new zones? new dungeons? new items? new characters? a full-fledged expansion pack following the game's ending?
Anyway, even if the 'perfect' scores are ultimately a small or even a large exaggeration I have no doubt that Breath of the Wild is very legitimately a superb and fun game, and I'm happy for Nintendo. I can say is that it was about damn time we had a good Zelda game like that. We "lost" all those years waiting for one on the Wii U, it's here now, perhaps too late (for the Wii U) but at least they bothered making a version for the dying console. Because if they really wanted to, they could have just canceled it for the Wii U and 'forced' us all to get a Switch to play it. At least they weren't that crass.
