So I'm about 20 hours in and I haven't even done the first guardian. I seem to keep getting sidetracked exploring the world. Who would have thought that finding shrines and random places on map to try and figure out how to get to because you can would be so much fun.

LOL. Those scared the hell out of me when I first encountered one. Now I suspect everyone of being one. I've been using the square bombs to kill them. Just let them run through it. Actually, I've been using bombs to kill pretty much everything. They aren't extremely strong (maybe a 10-15 attack rating), but them not being a consumable is pretty OP. Really helps save weapons from degrading so fast.

Pro-tip: The bombs don't share cooldowns. Switch between them after detonation for instant cooldown.

I like to run while carrying one so when something starts to chase me I'll drop it and when they run over it, KA POW.

I'm with you. I haven't started any of them yet either. I'm trying to explore the entire 3rd area where Hateno village is. I'd recommend everyone to go to the tallest mountain in the distance, behind the three trees that you can see in the distance. Also, you can buy a house in Hateno village. I just purchased it, though I don't like how you can't fast travel to it.

Anyway, there are plenty of guardians and other really strong enemies in the 3rd section... thank goodness for the great auto-saves.

I hope to get back to this game eventually. With how things are playing out, it's either this weekend or probably won't ever get around to playing it again. Just too many other games out right now and a week long trip to Vegas to worry about.

I've been playing for about 30 hours. Half of that time I've just been looking for a "Traveler's Sword." I've had several over the time I've played. Wish I knew to hang onto one.

This is where the weapon durability system fails. A couple fights and your sword broke. After playing this for a few hours it makes me dislike the game quite a bit. There is always a couple weapons or armor pieces in every game that I grow attached to and make my go-to. In no other game do they break and disappear. As much as I hated Dark Souls, it did a proper durability system for gear with a slow degradation until you get a break warning(and you can repair them). The way this works seems like someone decided to put a hundred different weapons in the game and make them relatively common but didn't know how to make the player use them all. They came up with the idea of making them break super fast so you are forced to use something else. They didn't treat armor this way either but give you tons of space for it which is odd too. That is just my opinion.

I'm getting so tired of my weapons breaking every fight. I'm getting even more tired of opening a chest and getting the dreaded "inventory full" message, forcing me to go into the status screen and discard my weakest weapon or shield almost every chest I come across. Not fun.

Yeah, inventory management is basically a dumb mini game that you play every so often in games now...it is completely vestigial and unnecessary. Many games flat out tell you that this or that item is junk and then you wonder why put it in the game to begin with.

Same with stat-building, especially now that many game designers will auto-level monsters to your power level in the game, making stat building useless.

I played about 5 hours at a friend's house on the WiiU and never had the inventory problem come up, but the weapon durability was an immediate turn off. I also hear the Master Sword which is a staple in Zelda games, loses charge over time and needs to recharge so you have to switch it out. Not liking that idea one bit lol

I know in Horizon Zero Dawn I am constantly filling up on my inventory at which point I need to travel to a merchant and unload. Funny, I can carry 20k metal shards but can't pick up that old coin cause I'm full on my resource bag.

The Master Sword too?!?! Ah man. I was hoping getting it would mean not having to fool around with this shit constantly.

Five hours isn't even enough time to get off the plateau starting area. Once you get off that and move onto the real map you will run into quickly having to discard stuff all the time.

From what read about the master sword, it loses power with normal enemies, with Ganon it doesn't. So because it's probably a the most powerful sword in the game, they didn't want people to use it over and over

Well, in real life swords do break. The worst thing in modern games is how some big roided dude wearing thick plate armor can do these little barrel rolls while also wielding a sword and shield.

One neat thing in the Zelda from 2006, twilight princess, was how the sword could get caught on cave walls. Good collision detection. I guess it makes it "less fun" to put the work into that collision detection, but it is cool imo.

Yes, I broke a sword I got from a flea market trying to chop a tree branch when I was kid. I saw a guy get stabbed on a home shopping channel after the sword he was slamming on the table to show how durable they were, broke in half. I don't mind that they break. They also crit when they break, so it adds some strategy. I don't like that it tells you in words on the screen that it's about to break every time you pull it out and that it broke. With the amount of detail they put into everything else to immerse you, that really takes me out of it.

Also, you can level up your weapon/shield/bow slots pretty early in the game, too, so full inventory becomes less of a factor later. I was surprised when it let me go to a 2nd page of materials and cooked food right off the bat. I'm not sure of the limit, yet, but I'm up to 5 pages.

That's the whole point of getting the legendary sword though, cause it's the sword of evil's bane. I'm just not happy with what they did to it.

Also I wasn't playing in the starting area because he had already played a bit and I don't care how much shit drops. The fact that two fights destroys a weapon that was pretty decent is total crap to me. Sorry I think it's a terrible mechanic.

probably my 2nd favorite all time behind OoT. IIRC that was GC not N64
I know. A good friend of mine doesn't really care for Majora's Mask but The Wind Waker is possibly his favorite, so I was wondering if you felt the same.

Link to The Past was clearly the superior Zelda title to all those.

To be fair, that is just my opinion. But it happens to be the correct one.
