I've got just over 50 hours into this game, it's a damn fun game.

I don't think it could have saved the Wii U if it came out 2-3 years ago. Though it perhaps might have helped sell enough units to bring a few more AAA Nintendo titles to it

Can't find the Wii version in stock anywhere around here. I did end up caving and getting Xenoblade Chronicles X for $30...not sure why I bothered but...eh, I'll give it a chance.

Amazon.
Storefronts are a waste of time and gasoline.

Not sure how I didn't know it existed, but apparently Zelda is already emulated (not perfectly, but pretty much). Bet Nin is peeved. Granted this is for Wii U, not Switch.

Beat it today, I'm not a completionist so maybe a lot of the little details are lost on me but still a truly impressive game. Story seemed kind of light though, less than I remembered from OoT but that was years ago from when I was a kid.

Going to return the switch now as there are literally no other games I want until mario comes out.

Obviously the drops happen more while in docked mode, but I still haven't found them to ever become debilitating. In handheld mode, I haven't noticed frame drops at all. I'm not saying that don't happen, just that people are trying to find all of the ammo they can to hate on the Switch. I hope the performance gets better with updates, but people are making it out to more than what it really is. From Digital Foundry's review, the Switch still outperforms the Wii U version, while running the game at 900p vs. 720p.

Pity they don't give you the option to run the game in handheld mode when docked.

What I mean is that, the game has a higher detail level when docked, to go along with the higher clockspeeds. What if you were able to force the game to always run in handheld mode, even if you had the benefit of the higher clockspeeds when docked? That way, you can have guaranteed smoothness, which I think a lot of people would prefer.

Has anyone tried yet setting the Switch to 720p resolution in Docked mode to see if it has fewer stutters?

One neat thing in the Zelda from 2006, twilight princess, was how the sword could get caught on cave walls. Good collision detection. I guess it makes it "less fun" to put the work into that collision detection, but it is cool imo.
I played through that one on the Nintendo Wii and I have no idea what you are talking about.

Great game ... I'm not huge into graphics, but I think it looks great, and has completely captivated me and my kids (playing through together).

How are you checking your game time? Game is so addicting. I stopped playing TW3 so I could play this. I hate to say it, but BOTW is more fun...

After running around all over for several literal days, I finally found a Travellers Sword. If anyone is looking for one, there's a really big skull (maybe a large elephant), a good ways north east of the Great Plateau. Inside the head, there's a big hole in the floor you can climb down, where you can see some weapons stuck in the wall. Of course shortly after that, I found another one in the ruin area just down the hill from where you get the quest.

I recommend starting that quest early, so you know what you're looking for next and can just play the game while keeping an eye out, instead of hunting each down individually later. The quest can be gotten from one of the kids, Nebb, in Hatano Villiage during the day.

I only played this game for about 3-4 hours in the past week, and it was on my departure and return flights to/from Aruba. Before I started I had gotten to the water elephant level thing, and I literally spent about 3 hours in that thing. I enjoyed the puzzles and it doesn't hand hold you at all. I enjoy figuring the stuff out. Then I got to the boss and realized that I did not have enough health and equipment to defeat him, so I had to go out and use spirit orbs to get more heart containers and purchase some more arrows. After that, it still took me quite a while to defeat the boss. But none of this was really that frustrating and just tons of fun. After defeating the boss I ended up doing a few Shrines kind of in the area.

This game is pretty damn awesome.

I came across an island that acts like a shrine when you set foot on it. With what occurs in the next sequence, this game has me blown away. I don't want to spoil anything. You'll know when you see it. I've not even come across a single dungeon yet, but with that island alone, I'm sold. The game gets a 10/10 from me.

After about 20 + hours in (Can't track my game time) I finally finished my first Divine Beast. The one in Gerudo, and man; that puzzle took me an hour to figure out, but it was satisfying knowing I completed it without googling anything. I'm trying to get everything knocked out in Gerudo and the Gerudo highlands... Place is huge, and there are a lot of side quests. I've already unlocked the whole bottom portion of the main map - Game is huge. I've beat around 35+ shrines and found around 65+ Korok Seeds.

Are you talking about Eventide island? I haven't beat it yet...pretty tough. The island is amazing though. Really great idea.

Yep, that's the one.

I've only had to google one thing so far, and that was what to do with the plant circles in the water. I was trying to throw things in them for hours, and finally had enough of it lol

So frustrated right now with the horrendous frame rate. Trying the elephant boss and it's nearly impossible to dodge or block as it's constantly at or below 20fps. Might be closer to 10 at times.

Without any spoilers, is there anyone here who's beaten it that can say if the story is by the numbers Zelda or if there are actually some plot twists? I'm thinking about chasing down all the Zelda memories.
