How do you minimize the pain of Windows/applications re-install? Dissimilar hardware restore from image?It will be disassembled since I'm not building an entirely new system. RAM, video card, storage, and power supply will carry over.
Are you speaking from experience?If you're lazy you could still run your twice or thrice upgraded W7 install from 2009 across multiple AMD and Intel builds.

Not only are the CPUs much more cheaper, the AM5 motherboards are just ridiculously priced at the moment. X670 based boards are just too pricey.
It has been a simple process since Windows 7. The only problem are storage drivers. AHCI or RAID. Would result in BSOD on boot. Putting the new hardware drivers on manually may be required. What type of workloads do you have that warrant this or is it simply to be ahead of the game? I'm genuinely curious as my current gaming/photo PC has 24GB and that seems to be OK (granted it is a much older platform).

Boot from Windows 11 USB Stick, install Windows 11. Download/install chipset/video/sound drivers, reboot. Download Steam for gaming. Enable WSL2 for development. Download automated install script for WSL2 and run it to set up dev environment. Install the few applications I need outside of that (windows store has made this process a bit easier). my concern with going brand new Raptor lake is there will be no more upgrades for that socket. Where as AM5 is just starting its life and you will see Zen 5 on it and maybe Zen 6.

With that said, Zen 5 should be on the 3nm (maybe 4nm) silicon from TSMC. True 7nm silicon from Intel (Intel 4) means that Intel can take on AMD with a core war and much better power efficiency.
If Zen 5 is coming out in 2024 and AMD said the socket is 2025+ that is pretty good guarantee.
Unless they are planning a new socket in 2024 which would be the opposite of what was said.
And considering their previous track record with AM4 I'm inclined to believe them.
