Updated the BIOS. Prediction is a thing now.

Thanks alot, now i have a baseline SP value comparison for the two 7950x i have in the mail..
Your = 116 and Skatterbench = 117

What bios did you update to ?
If your feeling brave, ComboAM5 1003 PatchA is out.

That statement also makes no sense, but could be an English error. Any DGPU will be in essentially idle mode while in normal desktop usage.
3rd try, even when idle DGPU will use 5-7w. Now with Zen4 having IGPU, AMD mentioned that DGPU can be completely powered down. It can switch between DGPU and IGPU based on load. Thus it can save 5-7w. It is not much, but nice to have.

Yeah, that's laptop style hybrid GPU usage. Connect monitor to the iGPU, let all dGPU image flow through that. Given fully working driver support this should allow the iGPU to take over 2D/simple desktop works while the dGPU can get into a very deep sleep state.
Wow, I didn't realize AM5 had that. How interesting. I assume that it only works with RDNA2 cards?

Ok It seems limiting TDP, PPT and Tjmax is part of the AMD CBS
You can play with these three parameters to your liking.
You can tweak CO and stuffs but too much of a hassle for me.

I just set Tjmax in BIOS to 80, and leave PPT to Auto, around 36K points on CB R23 and 168W PPT.
If you set it to 85 you can get almost all the perf save the last few percent. But for me 80 degrees is fine.

System is very quiet and without the annoying chipset fan too.
And it continuously boost between 5.3-5.75 GHz in a hysteresis loop in order to maintain the set Tjmax when working in single core load.

Windows booted after it went to repair mode and did not ask for activation again.

I love this chip, it is so quiet yet hitting those insane 5.7+ GHz ST and can run all 16 cores on 5 GHz at 80 degrees on 280mm AIO
Thanks for this! I have a 280mm AIO, unsure if I can use it for my next build due to case size, however. Do you have an NZXT by chance?
Why? To not have to tweak primary and secondary timings yourself, at least not the rough tuning? Or are there other issues?
With Zen 2 and 3, certain DIMMs just flat out were not compatible at the fastest speeds and timings. That was one of the issues AMD wanted to solve with EXPO.

I'm going to have to test this when I get mine. That would be awesome.

In the midst of tweaking my system. There is a lot to research and learn going from an Intel platform.
Most importantly, the video on (well its up last page) on setting a minus something that makes it run cooler. And sometimes faster. And also use Ryzen Master.

Well, tomorrow will be a big day. I have 4 packages coming with 2 power supplies (1300+1000), 2 7950x's, 2 AM5 Taichi motherboards and a 250 watt Dark Rock 4 pro cooler.

Update us when you get those boards whether or not you had this issue with the RAM slot sticker.

Apparently a few people have already reported they have had this issue.

After gathering more ASUS silicon quality prediction data, the SKU's seems to be very tightly binned

Actually a little too tight to tell us anything meaningful..

Here's me torturing my new 7950X. All cores/thread with 24GB memory allocated. Had some problems with memory stability at 6000 with even the loosest of timings. Put VDDCR SOC at 1.35V from 1.25V and that prevented Prime95 from failing within 10 minutes. Timings are still loose. I could use a few pointers on manually tightening them up.

I am not the guru at this, but the memory you are using is 1.4v and not sure what bios setting that is.

Out of curiosity, did you get an EXPO Trident Z5 NEO RGB kit, or an XMP Trident Z5 RGB kit? Some reviewers have said the EXPO 6000 kits work easily and the older XMP kits are not stable without some extra work.

I specifically ordered an EXPO kit to have an easier time with the baseline ddr5 6000 settings, although my CPU and board don't show up until tomorrow to find out if that is actually the case.

He said its exactly the same as what I posted way up in this thread. XMP 3.0 ready, NOT expo. 6600 c34-40-40-105 1.4v x x 16 gig. If you know the memory settings, please help him. I don't get my motherboard/CPU until tomorrow.

This stuff

I'm very interested in the memory settings too, it really surprises me if things are unstable at JEDEC or even at XMP. Hopefully BIOS updates will fix that. AFAIK there's nothing about DDR5 that should break compatibility like that.

IIRC even non-EXPO sticks does have the storage space for manual EXPO profiles when you get around to tweak yourself.

Thanks Mark. That is it.

Don't want to go too far down the rabbit hole on memory tweaking. I did that with my 12900K and 12900KS with three different DDR5 memory kits. It can be a huge time sink. Primary settings I can easily figure out for this kit at 6000.

Thanks Mark. That is it.
When I get my system setup and testing, I will let you know anything I find. I am hoping to do 6000 at the same or lower cas with our memory kit. Like 28-36-36-95. If it comes late, it may be the weekend before I get running.

I am using some generic Corsair Carbide small (mid tower) case.

There is no space to mount the 280mm Rad at the top (with this case), it touches the RAM kits and the heat sink. I have tried with 240mm AIO though, and it fits when mounted at the top.
However lots of space to mount the 280mm AIO from the front.
You'd be surprised how cool this chip runs when tweaked properly.
If you are willing to give up the top 200-300 MHz, it can run at 5.3-5.4 GHz easy under 75 degrees Celsius Tjmax with 280mm AIO.

Tried CL30 with the G.SKILL memory and received an error in Prime95 within a minute. Even with the memory voltage at 1.4V. It worked with my Intel system. CL32 is working so far 10 minutes into Prime95.

Also lowered Twr from 96 to 72 and Row Cycle Time from 147 to 128. Just shots in the dark.

Why does it say limit is 95c? My understanding is that it is higher than that. Ryzen Master needs a patch perhaps?
