At the preferable 250-350$ price range most of them look to be 14+2 or 16+2.

Tbh even 40a mosfets will be adequate in a 16+2 setup for every AM5 CPU out there right now. The only issue might be whether they use doublers or other features that reduce response times for current swings. That was probably the only real everyday benefit I got out of my x570 Master was a UEFI feature to "overclock" my VRM stages so that they'd respond to power swings more quickly.

For those who are looking for an AM5 Mobo and live near a Micro Center, I recommend just checking daily to see if they have an open box deal. I was able to snag an X670 Mobo for $230 (original MSRP was $290) and it was basically unused, and since the original manufacturers warranty is still honored I pretty much get the full warranty since these mobos are only a few weeks old at best.

What kind of interface speeds are you getting with a riser? Certainly not PCIe 5.0?
Don’t have it put together yet, I had to assemble the case, but it is a PCIE 4.0 riser. Unsure if it would operate at 5.0 speeds, however, my GPU is only PCIE 4.0 and PCIE 5.0 isn’t likely to matter for a long time.

Thermal paste guards? Why do you need them? You apply a rice grain of thermal paste on IHS and then spread it with a razor blade or spatula to a thin uniform film. There is no overflow. Everything is clean and it works. If you are a messy pig pouring buckets of paste on the CPU, you do not deserve a clean CPU.

Currently waiting on a couple slim fans that I forgot to order. My machine has successfully POSTed, however, some thoughts.
  1. DRAM timing on the X670e-i takes over 30 seconds. Not okay.
  2. My non-EXPO 64gb kit appears to be working at XMP (DDR5-6000 32-38-38-96) at 1T. Still need to do more testing with this.
  3. LAN/WAN Drivers required Armoury Crate installation unless I wanted to go through a ridiculous manual process. Windows 11 Pro now apparently requires an internet connection for installation. I had to do a workaround to even get things installed.
  4. This particular motherboard has a chipset/NVME fan, machine is LOUD when it first starts, and silent after. I will report if this changes after things are put together.
  5. Love having an onboard GPU (haven't installed my dedicated GPU yet)
  6. IF Clock is at 2 GHz. Nice. I don't remember hearing about that being the default.
First GB5 result: ASUS System Product Name - Geekbench Browser - haven't compared to others yet but wouldn't be surprised if it is slightly behind.

EDIT:

OpenCL Score from onboard: https://browser.geekbench.com/v5/compute/5663324

AFAIK there's no PCIe 5.0 video cards yet

But PCIe 4.0 is the current maximum for risers I have seen.

Technically there is nothing stopping a riser from working at PCIE 5 speeds, however PCIE 5 may need more shielding than current risers provide. Alas I have no way to test!

That's great, isn't it? I think you are the first one who hasn't reported an issue with XMP on Zen 4? Which RAM kit is it?

Would you be so kind as to do a Rapydmark run on HIGH setting?

Haven't checked if it is stable yet. 😉 It boots, doesn't BSOD (so far), and runs benchmarks. I will try Rapydmark soon.
First boot only or every boot?

Every. Single. Boot. Same for the insanely loud chipset/m.2 fan, which runs full blast until the memory is trained.

I may try and update the BIOS, though I've heard not so great things about the current releases.

Cinebench R23 was 1967 SC, 34407 MC (10 minutes, peak was a bit over 36k) - definitely lagging behind a bit. The 240mm AIO isn't doing me any favors, and locking the fan speed at 70% isn't helping either.

Interesting. I have my 7950X on a relatively small Noctua U12A heatsink and I get ~2050 single and ~38000 multi at stock (single run)

The 240mm AIO I'm using isn't the best performer. It was chosen because it is compact, and with slim fans, will fit in the tiny case I am putting it in.

Also, if I didn't limit the fans to 70% (where they are whisper quiet) I would likely get a higher score. I was getting about 5 GHz during the test.

I will be double checking everything when I put the final build together. Not expecting to break records given that my machine isn't much taller than a can of coke.

Ran Rapydmark. 171.285s with the graphics benchmark, 82.547s without the graphics benchmark.

The RAM kit is F5-6000J3238G32GX2-TZ5K. I am making no claims about stability. I plan on doing memory testing and I 100% expect to find problems. We will see.

EDIT: The chipset fan is 60db on boot.

Isn't there something about distance as well?

Yes I would wait until you have official cables out that have been tested.

And since there are no PCIe 5.0 gpu's out currently its going to be awhile.

I have a LINKUP Ultra PCIe 4.0 X16 still in box that I plan to use once I upgrade my 6800XT to a 7800XT and Alphacool releases a compatible AIO.

So, I got the new memory. All is fine, except an existing problem. Befor I tried clicking on ECO in Ryzen master, and it would just lock up. I figured it was memory. So today I tried again, it just hard locks. I can't find eco mode in bios. '

Any ideas ?

Asrock released a new beta BIOS with the only entry in the change log something like “optimized for ryzen master” … have you tried it?

I don’t think ECO mode exists yet, but you can set it manually with PBO power and current limits. I’ve seen the official ECO mode numbers here and there but can’t recall off the top of my head.

JayzTwoCents had a ton of issues with Ryzen Master locking up during his tests. Not sure why it works on some systems but not others.
