I'm gonna wait on a board since it's gonna take me awhile to get everything together. The CPU was my main focus. Ain't no way I was gonna let it sell out and have to wait months to get one. Now I just need a 7900XTX, waterblock, motherboard, new PSU, RAM, and uh a new case I guess.

The 7900 XTX blocks that I might want all come out in March or April so I have time to plan this thing out.

Just purchased a 7900X3D, along with the ASUS ROG Strix motherboard; and also 32GB of DDR5 at 6000 CL30.

Was pretty expensive (in Canadian dollars I think the term 'expensive' doesn't really do it justice) but it should last me a few years. I'm planning on buying the 7900 XTX card in a few months to complete the whole thing.

If that was the 670E board that's $600 CAD ,7900X3D is $800 CAD Memory $250+ CAD then add sales tax almost 2k I would say very expensive fits.

This thread is giving me FOMO like you wouldn’t believe. I wish you all good luck with your new cpus!!!
I had expected to feel that way, but I actually don't... yet. I want full confirmation of no funny business with the thread prioritization that I don't need to worry about at all with my regular Z4. It's also productivity lead on the regular version vs slightly % wise bigger gaming lead on the X3D version. I'd probably choose the latter in an ideal world, but it would have been a 6 month lag regardless.

Yeah, it was expensive but I did prepare for it for about a year by now, or a bit more.

ASUS ROG Strix X670E-F at $599
7900X3D at $809
G-Skill Trident Z5 Neo RGB Expo 32GB 6000 CL30 at $279

So $1,687 before taxes. I think overall it was around $1,850 with taxes.

The "big" one is going to be the 7900 XTX at around $1,680. I'm aiming the XFX Speedster Merc310 version, great reviews for that one all around. If not, the Gigabyte model (can't recall the whole name). This is the kind of 'Full Upgrade' I do only once every 3 to 4 years though. My current system was purchased over a much longer period of time, multiple components over about 2 years total. But this time it's a full upgrade in 'one shot', everything bought within the past 2 months only (other things were 2 more SSDs, a new Headphone for gaming, and a Gold rated Seasonic 850 Watts PSU).

Is your sig accurate so upgrade from the 3080?

I wonder if there will be a spring price drop for the 7900XTX maybe right in line with your timing.

Does any one here currently own the MSI X670e Carbon or the Gigabyte X670e Aorus Master motherboards ? I bought a 7950x non X3d last week and need a motherboard. these are the only 2 I pretty much like that aren't over the top ugly or blinding people with RGB.

I read through the entire thread and one person mentioned the MSI carbon but never replied if he purchased it or not. which of these 2 would be better to purchase? I will be air cooling with the D15 Dark Chromax. Also need which ever will have the most compatibility with running 4 sticks of g.skill S5 4 x 16gb 5600 expo ram..
