I neither have the time or mad skillz for that kind of project
fair nuff. I've never liked any case the way it is and always find a way to mod it. It takes time polishing off the cut ends and repainting to blend it in. you have an impressive rig btw. very expensive taste in audio hardware. and from sweden. are you on of those famous techno stars on the down low or is it a hobby like audiophiles?

no need to insult another member because they prefer simpler cases and you prefer a showy one like the one in your signature. if he finds that case or yours gaudy and tacky but you and others think it's lovely and peak design then who cares? let him do his own thing and you yours.

Your case and the swedish guy's is nice but they're not cases I'd use myself. too flashy for me if we're being honest. I'd be happy as a cherry tomato if they made old school cases with modern interiors. you could call it a sleeper case.
If you prefer simpler cases that's fine but telling others that computers should be "not seen, not heard" is ridiculous. At one time I too preferred simpler "old school" cases. My tastes have changed, but I still respect other's choices until they start telling people what they should do with their own gear.

And for the record the Fractal North case is far from "flashy". To me it is one of the most refined cases on the market. It reminds me of high end speaker design.

yes of course, i rose an eyebrow too at his comments. but what I garnered from it was what some people used to do back in the old days if they were involved in certain crafts on their computers specifically work by using extension cables and other lengthening methods to keep their flashy for the times and noisy forever it seems cases so they could focus on what they were doing. it mimicked the benefits of a thin client then but you weren't sharing resources and not bothered by noise.

you can take a band saw or angle grinder to the sticks. they won't work anymore but the height won't be an issue any longer.
Plus the traces will be shorter for better latency. Good thinking.

This will also be my first attempt with Windows 11. I've got a hazmat suit on order for the install.

If you use Rufus to make your install usb from the image, it offers settings like "don't require internet connection" and "don't require Microsoft account" to complete install

Yeah, I've got a script to de-cruft Windows 10 that I've built up over the years. Slashdot has an article saying that MS is going to add a nag screen to 11 if you have a local account. Since this computer will be my MSFS computer which requires an MS login anyway, I don't know if I'm going to fight it.

I always do the offline account installation so I can install the drivers I want first without windows trying to install whatever drivers it wants at the same time. Also if you start with a local account, you can name it properly instead of it just being the first 5 letters of your microsoft account name.

Cultural difference. If I tell something, then I won't use a question mark. Perhaps.

Yes, I've seen computer in one room and user with peripherals in another. That would be nice.

Denmark, but close enough.
I prefer quality and subtle design. While I spend a lot of time on computer hardware and gaming, there's is nothing that beats just closing you eyes, put your favorite album and let the audio bliss take you away.

I know how to pick parts, how to assemble and troubleshoot, but I'm not a craftman.

you lot all sound the same, not to the level of swedish chef on the muppets but close enough. I see, yes every man needs his bliss. When I was in my youth it was records for me. it would cause the tiny hairs on my skin and in my ears, which are now long enough to knit a jumper to stand up on end, erect in all their glory. Records died for a long time and then made a come back in the last decade. sadly I sold everything I had many years ago thinking it was a hobby lost to time.

I find individual condoms rolled down each finger a fantastic addition. In the end you've got some lovely water balloons.

that shouldn't be a problem to deflect. plenty of apps exist at the moment for windows 10 and windows 11 to remove annoyances. microsoft can shove their nagging up their keester.

Asrock, lol or absurd when they has to repair broken Bios in cooperation with Youtubers. As expected, it was a Bios problem and very big problem.Related to what i commented earlier, but ok Asrock released a new Bios and now it's fixed.

Gigabyte probably has a similar Bios problem, but a much smaller problem that affects CPU performance much less.

In general yes, all motherboard manufacturers should( right on the first Overwiev page)highlight all supported processors up to a certain TDP mark.

That's why it was very strange, that in the past Asrock did not have listed supported processors on this motherboard at all. After that they listed support for 170W Ryzen 7000.But the motherboard does not support 170W Ryzen 7000 processors.

Now everything seems to have fallen into place, up to the 120W TDP Ryzen 7000 series.

Some 7800X3D observations after tweaking:
1) There is an additional (small) memory latency vs non X3D parts at same timings as measured by AIDA64 latency. Maybe around 3ns vs my 7700X. Obviously gaming performance is still significantly better...
2) FCLK 2200 failed to POST. FCLK 2100+ achievable on all 3 of my 7000 series chips so far.
3) vSOC is too dang high under mobo defaults. Using modified Buildzoid timings at DDR5-6000 I'm currently running a vSOC of 1.14V and seeing if I can go lower... I've seen as low as 1.1V on the Ryzen 7000 DDR5 OC chart
4) Individual cores boost to at least 5000MHz under light loads, max 5050MHz

I think the high idle power draw noticed in some configurations on AM5 is a result of putting too much voltage into vSOC. As you can see my idle power draw is significantly less than seen in many places online despite having a monitoring app (and browser window) open:

tl;dr see if you can lower your vSOC. It seems to require very little vSOC to handle DDR5-6000 speeds, even with tweaked subtimings.

7800X3D while gaming:
Average package power 55W
Peak <65W

I'm looking forward to start tweaking, I managed to move the last hardware over from my old computer and started installing software. But still haven't had time for tweaking or gaming. :/

On a side note ASRock has just released a beta bios with AGESA 1.0.0.6 and increased memory compatibility for all their boards. Sounds good, but what are your take on beta bios?

But what is your PPT at idle?

How does it feel to be the latest traitor, stabbing Intel in the back, whose CPU served you without fail for these past many years and selling your soul for some dirty V-cache?
I plan to enjoy a nice chilled bottle of import rosé once I stab intel in the back by moving over to amd. though this doesn't different itself from what I do most weekends or the occasional weekday.

You too, Brutus!???
I'm quite charmed you compare me to the Roman senate that was the downfall for JC, no not the guy hammered onto a cross, the other JC. I'm more modern, like kicking Intel in the chest or back off a tall mountain cliff and watching intel fall to its splattering blue liquid ooze death.

Or that kick from 300, the one with sparta being yelled out while the spartan kicks the weird looking persian into a hole.

Intel thanks you for sparing their nuts the agony of your kick
under temporum bob swan's era you would think intel had been physically neutered. Sheared straight off with a toothed knife. Pat "Guns A'Blazin Gunslinger" Gelsinger is the best ceo Intel's had since the late Barrett. an engineer with a lot of field time.
