how is a DeepCool AK400 four-heatpipe tower with 120mm fan for cooling a Ryzen 5 7600, in a case with a stripe of mesh in front, and a rear RGB exhaust fan (currently missing both sides). It was registering 42C in BIOS.
It should be fine. Hardware Canucks tested Zen4 with various coolers from 360 AIOs down to the AK400 and found that they all will work. You do lose some performance as you lose some clock speeds but on the 7600 it isn't much..

It's running a 100% BOINC load on yoyo ECM tasks, boosting to 5.05Ghz according to task manager.

I need to install HWmonitor.

Decided to run my old G2A bought copy of the most trustworthy and accurate memory benchmark known to man, AIDA64.

V-Cache CCD enabled, High Frequency CCD disabled.

Performed a clean run of the most wonderfully accurate memory benchmark in existence.

Edit: I should also note that this is still with the frequency CCD disabled.

I go with the asterisks symbol myself and not faff with the alt codes. I used to have a booklet I got at a printer and ink compendium and show off events show when I worked for HP that had all the alt codes printed neatly on glossy colorfast paper. It wasn't always useful and I used it for kindling one day because I had no other useless paper to use. I also had a nice inflatable printer pool toy. this was before we bought indigo, ages old. I still had most of my hair then!

welcome to the early dos, kevin.
We used to create secret folders with nasty symbolic names during the Windows 98 era coz Windows Explorer couldn't read them and then store our secret stashes there. I think there was a trick to open the folder through the CMD but I forgot. Maybe using the Start command with the exact symbols? Point is, you needed to know how to type the symbols and what the codes were for those so 99.99% of everyday folks couldn't snoop in those folders.

Sadly, the NT based Win2k and WinXP threw a wrench in that fun little activity.

that stuff rots your brain and perception of women, igor.

Can someone explain to me why the sound outputs on x670 boards I see ALC codes in the specs and the 6 outputs on the back where the spdif is on most boards but some boards no matter how expensive have 3 outputs. do these mean it's a cheap built in sound and I need a sound card?

What is the difference if you enable the frequency CCD and disable the cache one, if not too much trouble?
It actually is a bit of trouble. I would need to set all of my BIOS values back to default, disable the V-Cache CCD, and then reapply my BIOS settings. Disabling/Enabling a CCD results in no POST when doing it with my other BIOS settings applied.

New ASRock Bios inbound:
1. Updated AGESA to ComboAM5 1.0.0.7
2. Support for 48/24GB high density DDR5 memory module
Perhaps, unless the following is reliable info: https://wccftech.com/current-amd-ag...thermal-limitations-fix-memory-compatibility/
"... current version [1.0.0.7] has various flaws & issues including buggy memory overclocking and compatibility.
According to leaker, chi11eddog, the current AGESA 1.0.0.7 BIOS firmware can only offer support for DDR5-4400 speeds compared to DDR5-6000 speeds on the AGESA 1.0.0.6 BIOS."

Yes, I've seen that too, I'm not going to upgrade if it is the beta version of 1.0.7.0

Some semi-early-adopter issues, mostly solved by getting a non-Asus mobo and EXPO-compliant RAM.

JayzTwoCents not so happy with AM5, nV, etc.

Caved into the upgrade bug & ordered a 7700 with a B650 board, now wait for the shipping!
Although I only have 4800 32GB kit of ram, at least it will get me up & running.
