I'd expect the boot times to continue to improve though. Boot times were long when AM4 first launched but subsequently became much faster.
boot times on amd's main competitor is also long. there was a point when boot times not aided by windowses fast boot genuinely got fast but modern security has made it slow again. although still better than the minutes it took for a hdd to ready itself and be ready for operation. it doesn't matter to me unless I'm sat there for 5-10 minutes each time, but a 1 minute boot is not a deal breaker, it gives me time to get a cup of tea and maybe a piece of cake if I've felt I deserved a slice that day, and let me tell you, I always deserve a slice.

Here when I setted the ram speed to manual 4800mhz the boot takes 30 secs.
When I leave this ram speed in AUTO (3600mhz for 4 sticks), the boot takes only ~7 secs to show the motherboard logo.
Asrock x670e steel legend - 1.11 bios.
7600x - 4x 16gb corsair 4800mhz (auto setted to 3600mhz).
So there's a way. Just need to gimp your system for it

I have one of those not that exact one but similar i bought it in 2017 after some injuries and a minor surgery to strengthen my legs back up while at work. my choice of cake is a simple poundcake, not the typical cakes you think people in north america eat.

igor to answer your suggestion from last week I could very well reduce the power through bios on my intel platforms to do the work at a lower power usage but the architectures and core counts on them intel systems is low enough compared to my higher end but now old intel system hardware that the work time would extend at the cost savings of a few hundred watts total per hour for the 6-12 hours those systems run during the summer. my time would be better spent selling those systems as wholes or breaking them down into individual parts to sell. the oldest processor is a 7700k which is not windows 11 applicable but anyone who has some tech skills can install w11 using the rufus tool or similar tools that bypass microsoft's bone headed move.

It's a dual-chamber case. The drive cages are behind the motherboard in the second chamber.

Stolen from AnandTech's review of the case:
it's not stealing if you work for them as a mod. very cool, I've seen cases like that but prefer ones with a horizontal situated chamber for older drives and not vertical. purely preference I don't think either position affects drive performance unless you swap between the two positions but that may be an old wives tale now a days. I don't like using hdds in builds but having one 8-12 tb model for storing things you wouldn't cry over losing if it died seems to be worth it.

That is usually a bit too dry for me. Need something to wash it down with but yeah, it's bliss with milk
whenever I move to a new city I'll scope out the bakeries and buy their poundcakes to see who makes a good one. I'll buy slice and freeze them to keep fresh. the good ones are the dense moist variety. they'd go mouldy by the time I finished them if I left it out or in the refrigerator. goes well with a nice strong black tea, the kind that dries your throat up. puts hair on your chest that. I do drink coffee from time to time but never learned to enjoy it, it's too much of snob drink to me.

Makes sense. Just crashed again with the cpu capped at 4.2ghz. Motherboard is going back to microcenter, hoping I have better luck with Gigabyte.

Quick update.. After 4 hours to rip everything apart and put the Aorus Master in, and an additional 90 mins of tense troubleshooting the GPU not being detected, things are back up and running again.

Hasn't been enough time to fully conclude that the Asus was the problem but performance is as expected with PBO and EXPO and things are looking good after about 2 hours, which I think is about as long as I ever continuously used it with the Asus.

One odd thing I noticed is that the ssd runs substantially cooler on the gigabyte board. Like 40c vs 69c. The heatsink is substantially larger on the gigabyte and there are thermal pads on both sides of the drive but still more of a difference than I'd expect.

gigabyte boards are a little wild with any auto oc/pbo fwiw. be mindful of that. i wonder if the asus board was part of a bad batch even though your board was not the same as 2jays, i say that because up until a month ago there were no issues for the asus boards outside of the boot issue that took a while. if it is a bad batch then I expect to see more of these cases online. I think the gigabyte boards look very nice for this chipset generation.

It's an x3d cpu so I don't think they can mess around with the voltage much if at all right?

So far I'm just using the PBO optimizer with a -20 all core offset, will start tweaking it this evening if it continues not having issues.

I was previously considering the Asus ProArt model but I had heard a lot of specific issues with that one in regards to memory support. I had kind of assumed that based on the price and quantity available at microcenter of the Prime Pro that it would be a solid midrange board with no issues

nm what I said then. the proart series is good in some products and earlier mobos were alright or good depending on the gen but it seems like they've become another hot air sub brand.

I just wonder why Danish retailers ar so bad at procuring product. :/
cost to hold before selling the product, it can be a weight around their necks if the product doesn't sell. or they're making room on planes and ships for those dlightful tins of butter cookies you lot make. especially the currant ones.

For licorice I prefer some aussie brands that don't use corn sugars or anise, but stick to licorice root. it's a bit more expensive than one would want to pay for licorice but nicer than allsorts I order from time to time, and certainly better than the death traps you call lakrits or salmaki. Sorry but it tastes like death time a million.

Apparently MSI has some decent ATX/EATX cases that also have good front panels. I got the velox 100r airflow. It's gaudy, but you can turn off the bling bling. All my components should fit. Grabbed some TG Kryonaut Extreme as well. Hopefully it'll be suitable for my GPU waterblock mount since I don't plan on using Conductonaut there (didn't use it on my Radeon VII either). Might use Conductonaut on the CPU but I need to see the TIM pattern on my 3900x before I decide whether or not I want to use it again. If the contact pattern is bad, I'll use Kryonaut Xtreme there as well.

Interesting there's such a boot time discrepancy still between board vendors even after all these agesa updates. I just timed my Gigabyte X670E Aorus Master, which has a 2x32GB kit running at 6200C28 and it boots to desktop in ~30 seconds. if I was still on the 2x16GB kit it would be more like 20 seconds.
Agreed. Seems like MSI is a bit behind in this area for some reason. Perhaps they don't trust a "quick boot" on the memory training or something.

It's getting stuck on POST for me 50% of the time, with the cpu and mem lights. Not sure if it's due to the latest BIOS with AGESA 1.0.0.6, but I didn't get this with the previous BIOS. I set the CPU to stock but kept Expo on, and it seems fine after it boots.
