Slightly off-topic, sorry for this, but its such a minor thing i dont want to make separate thread about this in proper section. One of my case fans aint spinning. It may start to spin, if i give it a push manually, but even then spins slowly, compared to the rest of fans, slow enough to still see individual blades.
Its a Fractal Design 14mm fan, part of the package with the XL7 case. I used my own Arctic fans elsewhere, but 2 of this original fans placed at the bottom of the case, to propel some air in. And one its spinning and the other is not. Both are connected to the fan "nexus" on the back wall of the case. I even tried to change different connectors on the nexus, unplug the other, spinning fan and plug the bad one in its place - but always same result. Is it possible the fan to be broken? Any way to resolve this? I wanted to try to plug it straight into mobo instead of that nexus, but all the chassis fan headers are already blocked by GPUs and whatnot, and the only free header is one of the three above CPU (cpu_opt or aio_pump), but thats 4-pin connector, while the fan itself is only 3pin.

If the fan doesn't spin regardless of which header you've put it on it is dead. sorry get in touch with fractal and they'll likely send you a new fan especially if this is a new case and new fans and one is dead.

Is it dead, even if its spinning after the push? Though slower than it should have?

I have one more, there were 3 in the package, though i had a place only for 2, so perhaps i try to replace it - its annoyance though. The case is incredibly heavy, difficult to manipulate, i will need to place it on the side to access the bottom. Not looking forward to it. Oh well.

Trying to catch up on the thread, and I just have to say this: a lot of you folks spend a ton of money on a good PC build, but no nearly enough on a quality office chair.

Spend the money on a Herman Miller Aeron or similar. Your future self will thank you.

I developed back problems related to posture which was mostly related to a crappy office chair. Thus far I have paid far more in medical expenses than what it would have costed me to get a proper chair.

A proper chair should provide full support when you are in the correct posture.

If I have time later, I will post links detailing posture and stuff. I am on mobile right now, too lazy to switch/copy/paste.

Wow, sounds good. What did it cost?

I agree, but off-brand can give good support as well. I maybe spend 4-10h in my home office chair and 30h in front of my computer at work, so I think I know which chair is most important

But how do you know what people have for chairs?

Thanks! I replaced it with the other spare fan and that one works fine - so yeah, it was probably faulty.
I wasted so much money already on this build, i really cant shop for more stuff for some time

The other problem I’ve encountered is that sometimes I exit a game, my windows can only maximize to the top quarter of the screen, and I can’t drag them larger. I can move the curser everywhere, but all windows and programs maximize to the top quarter of the screen until I reboot the system.
Graphics driver issue probably. Try DDU to uninstall completely and try installing the latest driver.

as i said if the fans were new contact fractal they'll either ask you to send it in or show proof you destroyed it and they'll send a new one. fractal fans are quite good so this is very surprising to hear they've failed before poweron properly.

The latest bios for my board seems really stable. I did some tests with stock settings for everything except memory kit is set to its EXPO I profile and then I did a test with the easy Ryzen 3D oc settings and selected the Hynix 6200 OC for 2x16 GB memory profile which has fairly aggressive timings. I ran the Cinebench benchmark on single and multi core for both settings:

Single Core Stock (EXPO I):

Single Core Easy 3D OC and Hynix 6200 OC profile:

Multi Core Stock (EXPO I):

Multi Core Easy 3D OC and Hynix 6200 OC profile:

So improvements for Single Core vs Stock: 3.1%
For Multi Core vs Stock: 2.9%

Not bad I guess for minimal effort, but nothing to write home about.

Edit: I just realized I had my render threads set to limited to 16 so the numbers are way off. I am going to retest.
2nd Edit: Numbers are fixed.
3rd Edit: I had my timings set for 6200 profile, but speed was still set to 6000. These should be the real numbers lol

Used Aeron C's are $400-550 around here. I have two and they are wonderful.

So far I'm not a fan of Windows 11, but the 7800X3D seems pretty great. Cool, low power, and with BIOS updates, hopefully explosion-proof.
I bought Startallback so I could get my taskbar and start menu as I want it.

Dunno, never used it. All I know is a lot of people have been bugging MS to bring back one-click access to all apps to the start bar.
nm found it, startdock. there was a good github opensource project for this for windows 10 when i first installed it when it came out 8 years ago. I've never used modification software like that, like you guys do. I like wox or power toys run, the pt run is still maintained by M$ on their github repos page. both solutions including launchy when it worked on older windows going back to the xp or vista days is a much cleaner approach than a shotgun pattern of apps some of you people like. but I did read that microsoft is bringing back some legacy taskbar features other than the label and combine similar mentioned last week in the press. they're rewriting portions of windows 11 as I said a while back but also bringing back features. then there's something about windows 12 being written in rust for speed and security. the same marketing spiel from m$.

how is a DeepCool AK400 four-heatpipe tower with 120mm fan for cooling a Ryzen 5 7600, in a case with a stripe of mesh in front, and a rear RGB exhaust fan (currently missing both sides). It was registering 42C in BIOS.
