Oh, and ram is only 6600+ (OC) and the new CPUs are supposed to go up to 7200 like the old 6000 on Zen 4.

I think I will wait.
IO-die is the same as 7000 series, the same caps apply..
If you already have hynix a-die or m-die your already golden👍

Same sweet spots as before for ppl that dont like to spend time in bios tweaking, 6000/2000, 6400/2133 or 8000/2000 etc (8000/2200 is the fastest mainstream setting for dual CCD, but will probably require some voltage tuning)

Remains to be seen if DDR5-8000 and higher EXPO kits work better on X870 or not?
Pretty sure "first gen X870E" is just X670E in disguise with a updated Thunderbolt/USB4 controller (this means you will have a hard time running EXPO 8000 on a 2DPC board)
Think the next wave which comes together with X3D (?) will be the real new X870E boards made from the ground up (where EXPO 8000 will maybe work without hazzle even on a 4 dimm board)

If the rumors are right, Sept 30th launch date of X870 will also be about when X3D releases

OK, well, I got the motherboard. Reasons:

1) Its an insane deal.
2) The 870E boards won't be out until a month after the 9950x.
3)I have a MSI 7950x board that is flaky, this will fix that most likely. MY other 2 MSI board also have issues.
4) There is no better X670e board out there. I also have another failed x670e motherboard

My Asus X670E Crosshair Extreme has been solid since a couple months after release. After firmware updates. The first couple months were bad. Very bad. For a while there I was seriously considering going back to Intel.

I have a prime X670e wifi that I am typing on and its had USB issues powering on and off constantly.

I won't spend my life updating BIOS to fix issues. Every ASRock motherboard I have has been flawless since day one.

The Prime series never appealed to me. Looks like overpriced "cheap" mobo in disguise.

The TUF, maybe. CSM, maybe. ROG, maybe. ProArt, looks pretty nice but expensive.

I understand not updating BIOS versions when everything is working fine. But when it's not, you should update.

Heard rumors Zen 5 is being delayed to Aug. 15th.
Not rumors, all over the tech news. Aug 8 for 9600X/9700X and Aug 15 for 9900X/9950X.

Some chips didn't get tested properly in QA so they're recalling every shipped chip to re-evaluate them, and sending out fresh stock that's been tested correctly.

Review embargo for the 6 and 8 core Zen5 is up, so can share some aida numbers @ 2200mhz FCLK and 8000MT/s

Let me know if there is any cpu/memory benchmarks in particular you want to see, and i will try to make it happen.
I'm only running a semi defective 3090, so i will try to stay away from gaming benchmarks

Asus ROG Crosshair GENE
Simulated 8core Zen5
2x16GB hynix a-die
2200mhz FCLK (cannot run higher)

Can run both 8000MT/s 2:1 and 6600MT/s 1:1
(can actually run all they way up to 8300MT/s, but its not really worth it for me atm. More on it later)

@Markfw sadly you didn't end up as the first one on this forum with a Zen5 🤣
(only a joke)

I'm assuming you are running the best CCD?

My requests are a bit crazy so not much hope that you will do them but here goes

Windows Core Isolation turned OFF

Passmark with SMT and without SMT.
Silverbench Extreme score with SMT and without SMT.

Windows Core Isolation and kernel protection turned ON

Passmark with SMT and without SMT.
Silverbench Extreme score with SMT and without SMT.

You can choose not to do the Passmark 2D, 3D and Disk benchmarks since those don't matter anyway.

All of them at 6600 MT/s please.

Simulated PBO tuned 9700X

Fmax 5700mhz (5500mhz stock + 200mhz offset)
6600/2200
SilverBench ran in chrome (dont know how adds/browser affect the results)

SMT enabled

SMT OFF

All my windows install are custom, so all runs have Windows Core Isolation disabled/removed

If you are running 6600 1:1, what speed would be likely for a normal person to run at 1:1 with 100% stability? 6200? Is 6400 now possible without any voltage shenanigans?

On both my 7950X and 7950X3D I can take 6000C30 EXPO kits and run them at 6200/2066 without touching any voltages. I'd hope that the same will be true of at least 6400, there is a 6400C32 EXPO kit that exists and was validated on Zen 4, after all.

Pretty much exactly the same they can/could run 7000 series at
The IO die is acting very close to 7000 series, with the same limitations that it entails, except memory straps over 8000 is working now

If "voltage shenanigans" are required depends on the auto rules the different motherboard vendors implement..

Does the BuildZoid 2033 IF clock still hold true for way better perf than 2000?

Do you think the X3D are going to be the real MVP's in a few months?

Seems to me that the lower launch prices of 9900X and 9950X make them very compelling, if not strictly gaming.

In that case I think I'll keep my current 64GB CL28 6120 setting when I upgrade to 9950X3D.

Just killin' it with the RAM score!

SMT uplift in CPU MARK is 34% whereas in Silver Bench it is 24% (understandable since there's probably a pesky browser thread in there that's causing some overhead).

This is about how low latency its possible to get on Zen5 👍

But for some reason the single CCD bandwidth in AIDA is lacking compared to Zen4 (expected read is ~104k and copy would be ~70k)
Might be an early agesa problem, or something have fundamentally changed with the GMI layout.
Have confirmed multiple other Zen5 systems show the same.. Full dual CCD 12/16core cpus dont display this discrepancy compared to Z4 (next week )
