That would mean ~40% higher clock just to be on par with PHX based on 780M(12CU) vs 760M(8CU) in TimeSpy.
It translates to max boost of 3.8-3.9GHz and that's ridiculously high in my opinion.
Does Phoenix actually hit those clocks in games? Maybe it's say 3.5GHz, minor SALU improvements and more typically at boost clock. Would be good enough.

It does. I regularly see Z1 Extreme hitting 2.7GHz on my ROG Ally, albeit at high power budget.

Maybe some improved dual-issue capabilities? VOPD has a lot of restrictions in RDNA3 iirc.

tbh it all sounds like Vega in Raven Ridge all over again. AMD put 11CU in 2400G I think, but later abandoned this config and never went higher than 8CU.

That's why I wrote max boost.
But PHX can keep clocks close to boost with 50-60W TDP, but can't test It right now unless TimeSpy is enough for you.

Feels like we'll have full stack with Zen 5 in 2025:
12C (4+8) Strix, binned to 10-12 cores + 12-16 CUs
8C (4+4) Kraken, binned to 6-8 cores + 6-8 CUs
4C (0+4) Sonoma, binned to 2-4 cores + ??? CUs (My guess is 4)

MLIDs leaked slide shows that Phoenix and Rembrandt sre still there in 2025 (so, 9040 and 9030 series), probably as a cheaper gaming option, since they have 12 CUs, and can still compete with intel's

I think the full stack (from Fire Range and Strix Halo down to Sonoma) being refreshed with Zen 5 cores shows confidence in the Zen 5 core and its ability to appeal to OEMs and consumers.

Was there another time that they made so complete a mobile stack with this many designs in such a short time that they could all have the latest core?

Yeah, or at least the combo of Zen5+Zen5c cores. Shows that the Zen5 core alone will not achieve all goals, whether it’s e.g. price, perf/watt, and/or max MT perf within TDP, that is better with Zen5c which makes them use that core on laptop too.

Will be interesting to see how Zen5c performs in all those areas. Since it’s a redesigned core, there’s potential for big improvements compared to Zen4c. If it turns out to be good, there’s a chance Zen5c will show up on DT CPUs too.

No.

Yeah when the next threadripper drops.
Want to bet? I am betting by Q42026/Q12027, AMD will announce new AM6 platform with 32-core Zen7 (or whatever name) as flagship CPU and 16-core version will drop to current 8-core pricing....And I bet you will change tone when Intel announce NovaLake-S comes with 16P+32E like you did on RDNA4

And why do you remove my price prediction or you already believe Zen5 won't cost $999?

Zen 5 won't cost $1000. Just MHO.
